WIW: New (to me) Nic & Zoe Blazer

This is the blazer that put me $3 over my SYC May Madness thrifting budget. It’s a pretty little linen blend Nic & Zoe blazer in taupe and magenta. It’s slightly cropped and a bit fitted and I knew when I saw it, it would be perfect with my taupe slouchy trousers. Underneath I’ve popped on a darker magenta tank, added my Boutique 9 peep toe oxfords, oversized gold watch for jewelry and added my burgundy vintage Cartier handbag. I realize the flowers in the blazer, the tank top and the handbag are tonal, which I kind of like.

I’m noticing that lately I’m not into wearing my necklaces, although I have many that I love. I like the “cleanliness” of my neck and chest unadorned and think in some ways, it helps to elongate my upper body by showing this bit of skin.

I’m crazy about these trousers and cannot thank Dianthus enough for convincing me to try them on. They are unbelievably comfortable and I can see me wearing them a lot. I think they can be quite versatile – when playing in my closet with them I tried them with a black cami/black tux jacket/clutch for dressy and then also tried them with a plain tee/flat gold sandals for casual. Both worked.

So what do you think of this outfit? Proportions and colours work? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Love! You look very long on the limb here!

(I have barely worn *any* jewellery for 18 months. It was a style goal to not sport accessories other than my bag, watch, specs, wedding ring and sometimes a belt. I am so into this style goal for my own style. I can't see it changing. Perhaps you have a similar style goal).

It's funny how the lack of necklace thing has just sort of evolved without even thinking about it. I wonder if it's part of now wearing clothes that fit better (thanks to YLF!) and wanting that to show and have the clothing speak for itself?

I am going to give this look 2 big thumbs up. The colors are fantastic. The slouch of the trousers is a great contrast with the structure of the blazer. Love it!

I am so glad your Boutique 9's are finally comfortable because they look great with those pants! I find that with warmer weather I like a more unadorned look also.

Love that blazer on you. Great colors and great pattern. I can't believe your thrifting luck. I've never found anything thrifting and I've been looking several times--I guess I am just clueless about thrifting. I even read your wonderful tips!

As for the necklaces, you don't need them--your clothes have enough visual interest with patterns and textures that jewelry really isn't necessary. Same with my clothes because I wear lots of patterns--if I wear jewelry I typically only wear one piece--bracelet OR necklace.

I share your desire to cut back on accessories. I do wear earrings, but apart from watch and wedding ring, that's usually it these days. If I am wearing my specs, the earrings are just tiny almost invisible studs.

Love! Your legs look sooooo long here! Also loving the tonal pairing of the jacket, top, and bag. I like a more minimal look for S/S, too. Even jewelry can somehow make things feel less airy sometimes, and with the pattern and texture in this outfit you don't need the extra bling.

Love the jacket with the slouchy trousers! I think the proportions are better with this one than the longer magenta blazer actually. This is fabulous. Your thrift store lady has a great eye.

I still love my necklaces but since I am on Team Solid most of the time, I think that is how I explore contrasts and patterns.

I agree with you about necklaces. I went through a statement necklace phase and now I prefer cleaner, simpler looks. I have to make myself wear jewellery, it doesn't come as naturally anymore. Maybe it is because we boldly mix colours/patterns? I like to think I am a little influenced by Angie too

This is a beautiful look, Shannon! I love this with your neck kept bare--I see what you are saying. I still do wear plenty of jewelry, but I typically do either a bold necklace or a stack of bracelets. Lately I have definitely been into the bracelets more, especially as it gets warmer. I also notice that whenever I wear a cross-body bag, I cannot wear a necklace (seems too competitive with the strap of the bag). Enough of my rambling--you look gorgeous!

I hear you on the necklace issue. I do enjoy my necklaces but I don't grab them as often as I did, let's say. a year ago.

This looks really lovely Shannon! I like the tonal colors (no surprise there), and also like that the booties/pants are tonal as well. I'm glad you tried these trousers on, too (thanks Dianthus ^^)! Perhaps having a "print" on the blazer helps in the decision not to wear a necklace as well? I find myself wearing less jewelry in summer (though certainly more bracelets).

Wow! That jacket is *amazing* on you, and while I'd never have thought slouchy pants could be lengthening, the way these drape on you in combination with the similarly toned booties *really* works. The smile on your face says it all to me!

Love it all down to your sly look in 1. By default I don't wear much jewelry apart from a watch and wedding ring, but occasionally have an urge for this or that piece of color. I think I will pay more attention.

Shannon, when you leave off jewelry, you make a larger statement with the cut and quality of your clothing. Works really well for a minimalistic style. Looks like that is what you were after here!

You know Angie, I'm not even sure if I consciously was going for a more minimalist look but that seems to be what I'm naturally gravitating towards. I'm just going with the flow and seeing where it all takes me!
