WIW: needs some fabness

Morning! This is what I'm wearing at work today, in a business casual environment. I'm happy with the pieces inidividually, but would love some feedback about how to make this outfit more interesting. It feels like it's missing something, but I'm not sure what.

The shoes are my favorite part, and I've had a hard time wearing jewelry (my usual is necklaces; I don't have pierced ears) with this top because of the texture. I lightened the pics a little so you can see it.

All ideas & suggestions welcome! Thanks for looking.

Hi ! What about a scarf ? A little color around the neck and /or a scarf that ties in the black and the color of the sweater.

Ivy, those are great shoes! I like how the cutouts echo the cables on your jumper. I think you could wear a necklace with this--a linked chain would look nice to my eye, again tying in the cables on your jumper. (I have no idea if that type of necklace is 'current' or not, but I find them classic in a Chanel way). If you don't want to wear a necklace, how about a grouping of bracelets? Or a scarf?

The sandals are great, Ivy. And the pullover too. I would like to see the trousers in better light to assess fit and length.

As for the combination - is that a cotton pullover?

I see a tiny bit of disconnect between sweater and footwear here . I might be tempted to wear a bootie, or a chunkier sandal with a sweater....

You could also do an unexpected look with your shoes and match them to your sweater in colour . That takes the look from the usual black pant/coloured top into a more creative zone. Top that with a bunch of jewellery around your neck, or a statement bracelet and ring - and you might feel differently about it!

I really love that jumper! Have been looking for something like that for the last 2 years, in fact.

I think the outfit is fab. Great fit on both jumper & pants. All your outfit really needs is an accent piece to really pop. A necklace, a bunch of necklaces, a scarf....anything you like. A simple long pendant necklace is a good place to start....it'll also create another vertical line in your outfit for some visual interest.

I'm thinking if the pants showed some ankle, you'd get polish without something around the neck... actually, wait, I'm thinking this is another place where hoochie hoops, or giant earrings a la Angie, would give that je ne sais quoi. Could you wear dangling earrings at your work?

A linen sweater is great with the sandals - not seasonally confused. (A wool sweater would be). How about a linen scarf in a complementary palette?

I think a couple of chunky gold bracelets worn together--bangles or dangly charm bracelets--would add that extra motion and interest. Also, the braided detail on your sandals is so pretty--maybe you could find a shoulder or crossbody leather bag with similar color and intricate texture?
