WiW: More hot pink - YouLookFab Forum

In the spirit of wear it to death, here's more fun with my new hot pink AT skirt. I got the inspiration for this combo from a friend who suggested cream silk blouse with metallic shoes.

I like it both ways (pic 1 and 2), but the cardigan ultimately won out because it's still too hot here for a jean jacket (or I'm just running too hot lately-- I have only worn my jean jacket once this entire summer. I miss it!). As it starts to cool, I can layer both cardi and jean jacket, and swap wedge sandals for boots.

No jewelry because the belt seemed to require none. Is that just me? I'm not used to belts. I am not sure if this belt worked with the cardigan -- too much pattern? But ultimately I decided ...why not?

This is my only WiW in awhile because I haven't been out of the house in days, due to work (I work from home), nursing a sick husband, and packing the kids up for college. Very busy here! Well, I did get out one other day since my last WiW, but I just threw on an older dress that I'm probably letting go when the summer is out. I wish I'd taken a pic of that one for you. I do love the cut and style of the dress but it's ATL and it has pilled too much so I am thinking it's time to part. But I would love to find a replacement/upgrade.

ETA#1: Oooh .. I forgot to mention the toenails! I did get out this weekend for a pedicure. Robin's egg blue!

ETA#2: I forgot the bag. That's my Brahmin bag. I can't remember who was asking about that brand.... I am tired. It's been a long week and it's only Tuesday!

AG, I normally steer clear of pink -- like the plague! -- because of its close association with "cute" which is the kiss of death when you are only 5 feet tall! But for some bizarre reason I am loving this skirt. I don't think I'm about to go on a pink jag though... then again never say never!

Pil -- that's a great idea. I have a lot of pins. I used to collect them in my 20s. I will have to play with that! In summer I tend to wear a lot less jewelry in general. But also I guess my head is having a hard time around the whole "how many statements in a single outfit" idea. (nods to the GB post that was going on). The skirt is definitely a statement. The belt is too. And so is the cardigan. So I opted for no jewelry. But with the jean jacket? A pin-- perhaps on the collar? -- may just be the ticket!

I love both of them but I think I like the jean jacket the best. I am seeing allot of hot pink for fall and am thinking of ordering the hot pink jeans from Ann Taylor. The pin is a good ideal.

Really great, you look fantastic! And so pretty. I have a slight preference for #1 because there's less pattern, but I hear you on temperatures. I am running so hot these days ... hot flashes when it's in the high 90s and you live in a mostly un-air-conditioned home is not for sissies!

Love both of them, but especially #1. The contrast of colours, textures, and the animal print with metallic shoes - it's all perfect!!

I hear you about the jacket, though. I haven't worn my denim jacket this summer, either, except for once. And that was when I was in the mountains.

P.S. I am a confirmed pink hater who has suddenly fallen in love with fuchsia this year!

I really like the cut of this skirt, so much more womanly and less girly than my full hot pink skirt (which I recently dyed burgundy). The animal print further sophisticates the look and I LOVE it !

Can you tell us about your white shell/tank? I need something just like that in a big, bad way.

Claire, I got that shell a few years back, from AT. It was some "guest designer" brand - Verre -- they had going at the time; I haven't seen it in their stores since, but maybe you can google that.

It is sleeveless and it's tunic length, which makes it fun to pair with skinnies. This is the first time I've ever worn it tucked in with a skirt. I wish I hadn't lost my photos. Imagine it paired tunic length over black skinnies, giraffe pump heels, long strand of pearls, and the jean jacket. That's one of my favorite ways to wear that top. It could be belted but I don't dare because I fear it would snag the silk.

I love this ultra pink color, and this outfit! As someone who's been described as little and cute, I know what you mean about the fear of pink, but in sleek/tailored cuts I think it's fabulous. I have a trench this color that I am waiting for it to get cool enough to wear again.

Love both, but I adore #2. This pink is working because it reads as energetic, not sweet, and your proportions and fit are impeccable. As for accessories, I think a pin would work in #1 just fine, and might bring some detail close to your face. Minimal is great, but "maximal" can be balanced and fab -- not frantic and OTT.

Thank you, qpswan! I am 47 with an 18 and nearly 20 year old; both are 4 inches taller than me. And this is why I usually steer clear of pink, or any style that may be considered too teenager-ish or childish. But then I also don't want to look like I'm trying too hard, like I'm a teen playing dress up in mom's clothes. It's a balancing act! When I am 65, and like my dad, I finally look my age, I will be relieved to run around in graphic tees, ripped faded jeans, and pink converses....and not have to over-analyze and fret about it all. Ha!
