WIW Mon around town - having trouble with spring temps

I wasn't going to post, but I believe in full transparency (lol) and showing the good with the bad, the everyday next to the going out looks. I went to town to drop off clothes for donation, shop a little and see my mom for a visit.
The spring weather here can be tricky. 60 degrees feels like over 70 when the sun is out and on you, but once a cloud comes by it feels upper 50's at best. So today's look was a tad seasonally confused for that reason. I started with my cobalt chiffon tee but it didn't seem to go with the cargo cords and so I switched to my red tank, but it was too snug with the skinnes. Ah, well - I was looking for a red flowy top today in the course of my wandering but it wasn't to be. It remains on the list. I feel this is about a 7 or 8, and yesterday I felt about 6. Time for some higher ranking outfits!!!

I don't know why I look like I'm holding my breath, by the way. Goofy!

What is the matter with the cobalt and grey? Angie wears those colors together:

Or was it the two different textures that you were not happy with? I think it looks fine. The shoes were the only thing throwing me off. Since you are wearing layers, the thong sandals seem too summer-y for the rest of the outfit.

I like the cobalt and grey with your white denim jacket and the red. What you are describing as not feeling right isn't showing in pictures. Guess you could still wear boots in those temps but sandals feeling more spring? Do you have an "in between" shoe? Cons or something like that?

I get the need for layers in crazy spring weather. Both tops work, maybe try different pants? The corduroys seem a little A/W to me.

I totally get the pants with sandals thing, it's perfect for the transition. Maybe you could wear blue jeans instead? I think of corduroy as a fall/winter fabric, even though I'm sure you weren't too warm in it.

All that aside, I appreciate seeing your every-day outfits as well as your dressed up ones. I like the colors (with both tops) of this and the proportions. I'm glad to see that you got that fab white jean jacket, and if I remember you paid less for it than I did mine. *sniffing* Good luck for a flowy red top!

And I think you all have a point about the corduroy. I hadn't figured that might be part of my issue with this feeling 'off'. The chiffon seemed too dressy for it and the ribbed tank was too similar both in texture and silhouette. Just shows I still need a drapey red top NEXT month, of course.

I love seeing the day to day outfits. It makes me feel like I'm not the only one walking around in the single digits. I think you are too hard on your self though. I agree with the corduroy--it does seem winter while the sandals scream summer. I think changing bottoms would make all the difference. I also feel like transition time is hard to dress for--hang in there, it will be full blown spring before you know it!

I get what you are saying but i like both versions of this. You look well put together, colors work and I have to say with your height and posture you could make anything look fab.

I'm not seeing a problem in terms of sandals vs layering. At best, it seems to be the cords are fighting the sandals vibe. Being corduroy with cargo pockets, I get the feeling they either need to be complemented by boots or loafers or similar casual sportier shoes; OR you could go the other way and play them off against really girly heels or something extremely dainty and detailed.

Other than that though, I'm wondering if my own standards are too low vis-a-vis YLF average... because I think You Look FAB!
