WIW: Messy tuck, vest & yellow snakeskin

I love that our office implemented Denim Days on Friday about a a year and a half ago. It gives me an opportunity to wear my jeans more than just on weekends and to play with work appropriate ways of wearing them.

Today started out with my Wit & Wisdom skinnies worn with a messy tuck into my blue suede booties. For a blouse, I chose my mauve silk front button with scrunched sleeves and buttoned all the way up, and on top of that, I've added a black vest. For accessories, just my wedding ring and my yellow/cobalt snakeskin daytime clutch.

I'm really happy with how this outfit turned out and would love to hear your thoughts on it. I guess my biggest question is does the vest work? How are the proportions? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Yes I think the vest works. The proportions are excellent to my eye. Shannon I forgot you had these boots, I must scroll through your blog for some blue bootie inspiration:). The mauve is a great color choice here.

Deborah - thank you! I love the idea of these booties with the black/white Maggy London dress (good memory!) but hadn't thought of that. Will give it a whirl next week. I love your blue booties and I bet you'll find you wear them more than you thought you would.

Suz - I've tried a few different kinds of vests but for me, I find the more simple, the better.

Nancy - I've seen very few vests in the retail stores here too. I thrifted this one about two years ago.

I really like the cut of the vest: very slenderizing. If you wanted a less androgynous look you could leave several buttons open of the shirt. But I love it as is!!

i really like this! My vest is more cropped and I have not been able to figure it out. The proportions look great to me here!

I think the proportions are spot on, though I find the darkness of the vest a little bit too dark for the rest of the outfit (could also be from the flash, if it was used). My eyes want to see something charcoal, or possibly pinstriped/textured/printed to break up some of the black. I am clearly in the minority on that
