That's what the happy bride, my fashion designer SIL, said to me when we assembled for family photos: "You killed it!" Later I had to explain to DH that "kill" is high praise in the fashion world.

The happy couple rented a large house at Little Compton for a week. It was right on the rocky beach. Some family members stayed there as well. Saturday night was the family clambake--everyone to wear white. The weather had turned chilly and breezy the day we arrived, and several later put on colored toppers to stay warm. The wedding was scheduled to begin Sunday at 6:40 at Belle Mer--right at sunset.

DH learned at the last minute that he would not be walking Sis down the aisle, but that didn't bother him. Her escort was Tom Kalenderian, a senior VP at Barneys. He did give a toast and did the father's dance with her.

We were requested to wear black at the wedding. DH bought a new cummerbund and tie. At the Zoo wedding my son gave him a lesson and tied his tie, but this night he was on his own. Proud to say he did an excellent job and you can see how much better the hand tied looked than the pre-tied. My BILs rented tuxes.

Sis's dress was a Vera Wang, 5 fittings, and someone told me it cost 10K big ones. For the wedding I brought my tiny Nikon and it didn't take very good photos indoors. I'll post more when the pro shots are available. The ceremony was short and sweet and very nice--the new spouse was very nervous but made it through. (They have been a couple for six years.)

The dinner was great, the toasts were fun. Two of my BILs also gave toasts. One brought some present to tears, including my nephew who was sitting next to me. I had expected something a bit different from this group, but the fashion friends I met were down to earth and very nice people.

Every so often a group would jump up and run outside to take a look at the blood moon.

Three brothers married women with the same first name. I am the original, #1, and #2 was there but the third couldn't make it. Poor #2 broke her leg a week before the wedding, she had kind of a scooter instead of crutches.

DH's new shoes worked very well for him. He didn't step on Sis's dress or her toes, or mine. I wore the Paul Green's that gave me horrible blisters at last year's wedding. (Only shoes tall enough for the dress.) This time I wore them a lot more around the house, and used Body Glide, and had blister bandages in my bag, but didn't need them.

DH's tux is from Brooks Brothers, accessories from Nordstrom, and at last black patent shoes that fit. My dress is Tadashi Shoji, my jacket from last year is Tahari and my gag Eric Javitts, the last two from Last Call. DH like the dress better with the jacket on, more balanced. And yep, those are my bare legs showing through the lace.

Photos
1-5 at the Clambake. 7 of 8 siblings in photo, the 8th was a bit late. DH is the only natural child of his parents there, another sister didn't come. SIL has been in fashion at least 35 years and had a love of it as a girl. She always strikes a pose.

6-9 pre-wedding. The whole family group assembled, me and my handsome BIL, my nephew, who I think was one of the best dressed guys there, SIL with broken leg is sitting on her transporter.

10-15 The wedding just before it began, the best people in their best duds, some of the bridesmaids and flowers, the bride and Tom, the bride's dress in back. Also my dress on top, wrist corsage, and DY bracelets. Earrings really didn't show.

16-17 We had a dinner at The Boathouse the night before we came home. Five of us were there, MsM, DH, youngest SIL, bride and my new in-law. First chance I had to have a talk with her and she is a talented, impressive, and genuine person. I really like her. She loves my SIL. If you want to know more, their business is The Martini Factory.
