WIW: Inspired by Rae, and are these boots dated?

Ponte pants inspired by Rae! Equipment shirt, vintage boots.

These boots are true vintage, deadstock probably from the 60s. I got them off Etsy a few years ago. They have a leopard plush foodtbed and orange lining. But are they seriously dated, or vintage cool? Please be honest!

Yay: They're good.
Nay: Get in this century!

I like the boots. The only change I would make is to the laces, they look old and tired to me. Love the look of the ponte skinny pants with the boots and bigger shirt -- that ticks off my style rubric also!

Ceit, I think that's just the picture, the laces are brand new. As is the metal - it looks rusty in the pic but it's shiny gold/brass. Yes, this reminds me of you too!

I like the boots too! Great detailing and vintage vibe.

I think I'll wear my ponte pants tomorrow. I haven't worn them since Iceland and the weather here should be cool enough to break them out now.

Fantastic! I crave to see this with more riding details, but don't know what you could add without feeling OTT. Leather perforated driving gloves with knuckle cutouts? Goggles worn carelessly about the neck?

I don't feel the boots are dated but then I'm seriously considering how to mimic Emily's fashions from the old Bob Newhart show. So consider the source.

I would actually swap out the skinny laces for thicker ones. I think it would look cooler. They look too dainty for me. Actually, I would swap them out for paracord laces I think.

Re the boots. I am no expert about whether things look dated. I guess maybe they do...but I like them a lot anyway! They just suit you so well.

How about leather lacing for the boots? I've found it sold by the yard in colors at craft/fabric stores. It's the same thickness as work boot type laces.

Una I don't think there is an exact amount of years when something becomes retro but it usually seems to me if the older the style the more retro. These look 60s or 70s to me but also very now because fashions come around again. If it were 80s or even some fashions from the 90s it would be current too but some 90s & this century are dated & then some from this century are still current, never went out. I hope that makes sense.

ETA: The heel & toe look like some of these boots from the 70s.

I love those boots and would have though that you just got them as "vintage" inspired. Did you try them with no laces at all and just the little gold details? Do the laces give the boot shape or are they just decorative? I would be curious to see how that looks.

Love the outfit! Red is fabulous on you. I like the boots, they look cool vintage to me. Though I would swap the gray laces out, that's bugging me a bit and making it look more faded than it should be; I'd do black, or silver, or try none as Moira suggested.
