Yesterday, I watched a documentary about ballet, so of course today I wanted to be a ballerina. Shiny mentioned French blue the other day, which reminded me of this silk blue cardigan I have. It's too big to wear normally (I thrifted it anyway, enchanted by the colour and fabric and little details; a major shopping weakness of mine is overlooking fit issues), but that didn't matter since ballerinas wrap their sweaters anyway! Wrapping seems to work best with a dress, and inspired by Marie Laurencin's chakly pastel colour palette, I opted for grey with touches of soft white. The belt is from my sister's closet clean out: I was excited since I realised after being on the forum that a white belt would be handy. This one is really pretty, but looking at the pictures, I realise I'm going to have to figure out what to do about the end sticking out. As the neckline is fairly low, I took the opportunity to wear a necklace (gold to match the belt), added my gold rings, and since you could see my ears, my little gold posts. The outfit seemed a bit staid, so I added polka dot tights and bow in my hair (put up a la a dancer's, although it's obviously too short for a bun). For my walk I stayed simple and wore my grey ankle boots to match.

Happiness factor was good but not great: it took some fussing to get the cardigan to wrap, although luckily the belt held it in place quite well. And I really wish the dress had a fuller skirt (which is part of why it's a placeholder until the perfect grey dress comes along!). I felt a bit self conscious that the cardigan is too big; I think I'm going to try adding princess seams to take it in (if I just take it in at the side seams, a lot of the cute details will disappear). But I loved the colours and general shape, and the silk felt fabulous, and I felt fine greeting my neighbours during my walk. So maybe a 7 out of 10?

Pictures were rushed as my camera's battery light was blinking red and angry. Luckily it held, as I'm trying to get back into the habit of taking daily or near-daily photos!

Comments & suggestions always welcome!

ETA: I just realised the white velvet ribbon I tied around my ponytail must have blown off during my walk. Eek! I'll have to be more careful in future.
