My title really isn't a typo. It's deliberate.

Sometime during the week (or earlier), I was inspired by one of Rae's outfits:

See the one she posted with the green top and tall boots? Here's my own interpretation of the outfit - of course, blinged out and colour-coordinated in a typical MsKatieKat manner. She pulls the look better though since she's not likely hiding a saggy bum syndrome like I was...

The pants I'm wearing are the Gap Ultra Skinnies I've been PPPing and FINALLY got for half the price. I'm sad to say that these pants frustrated me all day. I purposely picked out the size 6's, which fit nice and snug on me, producing an atrocious-looking muffin top in the process (thank goodness this shirt hides the flaws!). I was recommended to size down from the 8's that fit perfectly because they expand everywhere... And BOY did these suckers expand. In one hour, I had a pool of bum saggage between the bottom of the bum and around the upper leg. THAT WAS NOT THERE WHEN I TRIED IT ON! The legs loosened up (which I like) but the knees started sagging as well. Oh and by the way, the atrocious muffin top stayed. Breathing was difficult. When Katie can't breathe in her clothes, it is NOT a good outfit.

Needless to say... This much awaited PPP attempt was a bomb. And I'm really bummed out. Yes, I spent less than $40 as opposed to $80 but I was really hoping these pants were "the one skinny dress pant to rule them all" (uhh... Neeeerd). Drapey top and boots aside, I did not feel my best with this outfit. Should've worn my AE Jeggings instead...

And folks, this is why I gave up on pants years ago. I'm a fit fanatic and I am prone to chronic bum saggage and over spilling muffin tops. Thank goodness for YLF and Angie's concept of waist-surrendering. I'm not giving up on skinny pants though, especially since I rediscovered AE jeans (I have a mini-muffin as opposed to a maxi-muffin... And there is absolutely NO bum saggage. None. Serious). I'm hoping I discover a good enough non-denim brand though.

Try Ricki's skinny pants! Ultimate something or other. I have a pair and they are perfect as skinny dressyish pants.

You are such a great story-teller! You had me laughing ruefully at your adventures. I have had a similar issue with GAP always skinny jeans, by the way. I have an old post in which I call them my "Always Baggies." For me the issue is around the knees (and my knees are NOT slim!) They're just not great tucking-into-boots jeans for me.

This is a fab outfit on you. You know what works on your body and with your colouring!

Awww Suz, that's really sweet of you! I'm glad you enjoy reading and laughing at my posts! It's too bad about the Your experience with the "Always Baggies". I find it interesting that knees seem to bag out a lot in Gap pants! I wonder why that is? I've come across people who have had the same issues!

@Ceit: I'll have to travel a bit further to get to a Rickis, but I've read you and Shannon marvel at this brand before! I got a coat from them once and it lasted me a couple years!

They do online shipping deals where it is $2 shipping quite often, and you can return to a store.

My knees must be magical because I never find my Gap jeans bag out. In fact, I find the knees often cut too tight so that is uncomfortable, especially in the jeggings.

That top is fantastic. I hear you on the muffin top. I hate when pants stretch in the knees... did that happen also?

I have a great pair of ponte skinnies from Joe's Jeans that work as pants or leggings.

Ooh, lala! So flattered! Well you know I adore the look - I also am in love with that top for its color and the sheerness in the sleeves. May I ask who makes it? I have what I like to think of as "front muffin" these days, and am keeping my eyes out for more styles like this with draping lower in the body.

Sorry to hear about the pants. I got burned by quality issues on a few things this year, too. So frustrating to think you have found The One and be disappointed.

@Una: ohhhhh the stretching was THE WORST in the knees! I thought it was due to the tucked in boots look but no! I was sporting puddles of sag there! Thanks for the reco on Joes Jeans! I'll need to check it out. It's especially tricky finding ponte as leggings AND pants!

I have it in black as well! Most crossover tops don't work on me but the drape on this is just lovely!

Hm, that's really interesting because my ultra skinnies did not seem to bag at all after two wears. They did have the crotch seam come loose though which was irritating (but since it's on seam and just a loose thread I'm just going to sew it back up myself... But still... Gap has had some quality control issues lately).

@Julie: black and the bad lighting hid the knee sags well! Had I turned around you would've seen the bum and all it's sagging glory!

@Diana: Ceit never had a problem with them either. I'm starting to think its a body type thing. But you're right about gap and quality assurance. It hasn't been that great as of late!
