WIW: High Contrast Stripes - YouLookFab Forum

I thought I would change things up a bit and go higher contrast than normal (and MUCH higher than my post yesterday!) although I am doing green for a third day in a row... Tricia gave this dress to me when I was visiting her, and I couldn't wait to wear it. It's like wearing pajamas... with a shaper underneath. I was wishing that the sweater was a little longer when I caught a view of my backside in the mirror at work, but otherwise felt wonderful in this today. I liked the black glasses for a change - I thought it would work well with the whole high contrast thing today. My favorite thing about this dress is how something as straight as bold horizontal stripes got all twisted up sideways (literally) into an asymmetrical ruffle and neckline. How fun is that?!

ETA: I'm not in love with the shoes. I'll have to improve on that next time!

Now this is my idea of a striped dress:) The shape if very flattering and the green over it is really lovely. Looking gorgeous. Would it work with leggings and a cropped jacket too?

Oh thank you! Great suggestion. That would help with the shoe issues I'm having with it. I don't like the ones I wore with it but leggings would open up new possibilities!

Wow, you are stunning in this high contrast look. I do like the black glasses with the stripes. The dress is wonderful on you! And what are you talking about, wanting a longer sweater? The one you are wearing looks lovely. Deborah has a great idea with the short jacket, too.

I think that there was just something about the way that horizontal stripes and the end of the sweater went straight across the widest part of my butt that looked a little like a neon arrow pointing to what I most wished to hide... But cropped might actually do just as much good as longer. If I could have turned myself around to get a photo of the back, I would have....

This is a really great dress! I like how the gathers add some textural interest, so it's not just the visual interest of the stripes. And it looks really nice on you...shows off your pretty figure!

You look pretty in the green too—it highlights your eyes.
