The occasion: The annual "Bergman Brunch" garden party hosted by my husband's colleague. The setting: Their beautiful (but buggy) garden. The guests: Mostly academics and some professionals. The Theme: "Wear something white."

I am low on whites this year. So here is what I wore instead:

Off white shell: Discount store
Flowing wrap skirt: Guru, made from recycled saris.
Shoes: Those red wedge sandals I asked about last week. Still haven't tried the inserts but it is so humid today my feet stayed put in them.
Hat: SPF
Pearls
Macrame tote for bug spray, sunscreen, sunglasses.

I also wore a big bump on my head; lost my balance and smashed it last night while trying to organize our recycling. I didn't think the hat was the right style/texture for the outfit but it was the only summer one I could find at short notice (I do have a couple of others but I seem to have stored them too well...) and it did have the advantage of hiding the bump. It looked a little less incongruous in the sunlight. And I hoped the macrame bag sort of worked with it.

See how many floaty layers the skirt has? You can wear it as a halter dress, too, or a tunic, or a top, although I haven't quite figured out how to do that yet. My daughter said to me, as we left the house, "Mum, your dress is wafting." Nice word, no?

Edited to add close ups of hat...friend took at the brunch and sent to me.
