I wore my skinny jeans for the first time in ages: I was going to a knitting group for the first time and wanted to look a bit more mainstream. Of course, I had to add some more romantic touches to feel like me! I knew I wanted to wear this velvet jacket: one of my mending jobs was slimming the lower sleeves/cuffs, and I was excited to wear it. Then all that I needed to do was decide on a top. I wanted one that would work on its own, as I knew I'd probably end up taking my jacket off inside, and that had a similarly romantic/frilly vibe, so I opted for this silk blue blouse (I swear, the weirdness around my chest in these pics is from the overhead lighting: I've never noticed it in the mirror). It has the prettiest little details (pintucks, faggoting, buttons down the back, silly floppy bow) and is in one of my favourite colours; I felt so lucky when I came across it while thrifting. It was pretty chilly that day, so in order to make sure I'd stay warm I added my wool lined boots, and wool hat/mitts/scarf. My only wool scarf is grey, so it looked very monochromatic, but at least I wasn't freezing while I waited for the bus! Luckily although the jacket is a cotton velvet, it's lined in silk, which adds to the insulation factor.

I was in a hurry when I took these photos, so I didn't realise the top had ridden up when I put the jacket on: I promise I didn't have grey cami peeking out as I went about life. The blue top is longer than the grey jacket though; I got this jacket to wear with skirts, which is why it's so short. Does it look ok like this or should I try different shirt lengths with it? If I wear it with any of my skinnies my top is probably going to peek out, as I am so long waisted that even tucking wouldn't completely solve it. However, I'd be able to wear it with my full wool trousers without a competing shirt length, since I tuck into those at my natural waist, and of course with skirts & dresses.

As I mentioned yesterday, several factors combined to make the photos pretty bad: sorry about that! Hopefully you can at least get an idea.
