One of the realizations I made by looking at my wardrobe statistics is that I don't wear dresses as much as I would like. I'm drawn to dresses and I love them, but I don't wear them a lot. Why was that?

I think one reason is that I'm drawn to a more minimal, casual style right now, and most of my dresses make me feel too dressed up. Well, yesterday I went shopping and I found a forest green shift dress that I think can become a versatile day dress for me the coming season. I like the color, it has sleeves, the length is good, and it is relaxed, but not totally unstructured. It is in fact quite classic. The width makes layering a bit challenging, but I have a couple of ideas.

My first take on the dress is inspired by a few of the characteristics of 2014 that Angie outlined in March, particularly "irregular outfit juxtaposition" and "just enough structure". I've paired it with Adidas sneakers and a denim jacket. We are enjoying the last few days of warmth, so I'm wearing the dress sans hose - the part of summer I probably miss the most, is the ability to do that. I've added a white bag because the warm season isn't over yet, and I like the crispness white adds to the green.

What do you think? Does the dress work on me? Does it work with dress and sneakers? Any thoughts are appreciated.
