No, not for the Lord of the Rings dwarf, but for the Icelandic fishing town of Gimli. Gimli is one of my favourite small towns about an hour north of Winnipeg, right on the lake. It's got a lovely beach with a boardwalk, a fabulous little restaurant that serves fresh pickerel burgers from fish caught that morning, a coffee house that makes the best lattes I've ever had and my favourite store in the entire world, Tergesen's. This store has been around over 100 years and has the tin ceiling and creaky wooden floors to prove it. The store carries clothing, some jewelry, a few kitchen goods and a wonderful assortment of books. There is also a lovely store called Koma Heim in the town which carries handmade artisan pieces from all over the world. Many of the jewelry pieces my husband has bought me over the years come from that store.

We're heading to Gimli for the day and comfortable clothing is needed. We'll be doing a fair bit of walking plus it's going to be extremely hot today. I started out with a drapey white/yellow tank. I really love this type of tank for hot summer days - nothing too clingy in the heat please. It may not be the most flattering silhouette but that's not my primary focus for today. I've paired the tank with my faded blue cuffed denim Bermuda shorts and my floral lace up shoes. My handbag is my vintage woven with the Bakelite handle.

What do you think? does it all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Tank: Laura Petites (thrifted)
Shorts: Reitmans
Shoes: Blowfish
Handbag: vintage
