Thank you, everyone! Wow, nice to see this look get some love. Interestingly, I still feel very much me in this kind of outfit. If I still worked in an interior design firm, this is the kind of thing I'd probably be wearing for client meetings. It's not so far from what I wore in my last office job -- in fact, that's why I own those wide-leg trousers -- it's just updated.
BethAnn, that quote is wonderful, and I'm so flattered that you used it in the context of my outfit! I'm going to remember that.
Deborah, good eye -- although the photo in the mirror plays a little trick. I am wearing wedding band on the traditional left hand and a statement ring on the right hand. The statement ring was a score at a local boutique -- just sterling silver and mother of pearl, but a favorite with outfits that have white in them. It's funny you remark on the wedding band hand. This weekend I started wearing a family heirloom diamond and filigree ring in the place of my "re-engagement" ring from my husband (he bought me a new ring for our anniversary a couple of years ago because my original engagement ring chipped years ago). The new ring from my husband is actually an antique, and our jeweler advised me that the prongs are getting quite worn down and need to be rebuilt, so I'm taking it in today. I actually had a dream last week that I lost one of the stones.
So while my "new" ring is being repaired, I'll wear my original engagement ring and my family heirloom one, depending on my mood. My wedding band felt too plain and lonely by itself. Here are better pics. 1 is my "new" engagement ring that is being repaired. 2 is the family heirloom. And 3 is my original sapphire engagement ring.
