WIW: First day of June + Mem Day loot

1) WIW today
Sleeveless grey dress
Tan belt
Black cardigan
Imagine I'm wearing grey tights + grey maryjanes, which is how I wore it to work.

2) Last time I wore this dress to work
Sleeveless grey dress
Black belt
Black cardigan
Bare legs + grey mary janes

I like the look of the tan belt better and I'd also like to pair it with a more colorful cardigan. Restyling suggestions gratefully accepted.

3) Cognac pleather Co-Lab crossbody purse ($30 via Marshalls). Keeping this one.

4) Black/white purse that can go either crossbody or be worn over the shoulder. I'm sort of in love with it but even on sale it was more than my standard purse budget and there is the issue with keeping it clean. I'm going to keep it in the packaging and think about it for a bit. Please don't enable me.

In both #3 and #4 I'm wearing a Desigual dress from the Mem day shopping pile. The only reason I might not keep it is that I have so many other blue dresses. I'm ready for clothing manufacturers to start making dresses in other colors already.

Think dress in #1 looks better with barelegs, like bag in #3 better than bag in # 4.

I think the dress in 1 would look great with the tan belt, bare legs, and a red or cobalt blue cardi or cropped jacket.

I love the black and white bag, but I wonder if it doesn't seem just a little big on you as a crossbody. Is it leather? You can treat it with a spray to repel stains. Light colored bags are tricky but so appealing in the summer!

I like the print in the Desigual dress on you. I totally understand what you mean about a surplus of blue dresses -- that's part of why I bought that bright pink/yellow/black/white printed sale dress at Anthro!

The dress in #1 is lovely and extremely versatile. I like it best with bare legs (easier in summer, of course). I think you could easily add colored accents (Janet had great ideas), and it would also work with with cognac/tan/brown accents for a little more rustic/casual treatment. Maybe the belt you're wearing in #1 with some chunky brown sandals or boots?

Nice WIW! How about a black and white scarf with the gray dress? I like the tan belt, can you wear sandals to work? It would look nice with a red cardi too.

Love the Desigual dress and the bag you are keeping. I'm trying not to enable you, but the black and white bag caught my eye right away.

That is a fabulous dress in 1 and 2! Much fabber than the Desigual, actually, in my opinion. You are right--I was also thinking yesterday there is a heck of a lot of blue for sale. Regarding the purse, personally bag love doesn't often strike me, and I always follow it when it does, but this one definitely makes a strong statement, so be sure you know how you will want to wear it. A protective spray might help against stains.

@Kiwichik: I do prefer wearing the dress bare legged as well but it takes a lot of guts for me to go like that to work - I think #2 was only the second time I ever have.

@Janet: Great ideas! I do have a red cardigan that I can't believe I didn't think of wearing with the cognac belt. I don't have a cobalt cardigan, but I'll be on the look out for one. The black/white bag is maybe a bit too wide to be completely flattering on me. I usually go for small shoulder bags and large crossbody bags as I can carry a heavier load crossbody than I can on my shoulder.

@Beth Ann: I always think of the dress as being very buttoned up so your suggestions of how to make it a little more rustic are very welcome. A more rustic look would help it look less dressy and ironically enough more work appropriate. I do have some cognac boots that might pair well with it.

@Claire: No enabling! I'll try the black/white scarf next winter. Way too hot for it right now. I can wear sandals to work but I don't have a brown/neutral/nude pair yet. The right pair is SO hard to find.

@Scarlet: It looks like blue and white are the colors of summer, at least this season. The blue dress would be a weekend dress for me - dinner with friends, etc. For the purse, I had in mind an outfit with my yellow blouse, blue jeans and white/black oxfords. I guess I should put that together and photograph it!
