WIW: FFBO with H-D boots and ratio question

FFBO - this Eileen Fisher dress. Worn with the Harley-Davidson booties. I think I need a tutorial on correct boot to skirt length proportions, along the lines of PPL for various types of pants. Is this an acceptable ratio?

I love the dress, and I love the booties. However, you are right., my eyes say this seems a little off ratio.

I guess a taller boot? Or different color stockings. My preference is to extend the line of the leg. Or wear a shorter boot.

That dress is great, looks comfortable and cozy, and it plays to your style. I am no expert on proper boot height, but I think this looks fantastic. I do think mid calf boots are the most versatile invention ever. I may have to try this myself. Sometimes when I wear booties with a bare leg or a lighter pair of tights, I find the contrast too jarring with the large expanse of calf and I think this height of boot solves the problem.

Is there a shorter layer you can toss on top to break things up? Or is that too warm?

I think the issue, if any, is the tights, not the boots vs. dress. I have never been able to figure out color tights and / or successfully winterize a knit dress of that shape so I'm of zero help.

I still think you look great!

Looks great to me. This is my preferred boot height for dresses of this length as it shows a nice amount of leg. I only like tall boots with shorter skirts than this.

I think it looks good. If it bugs you, you could match tights to the boots and dress. Then there is no worry. And that is MY FFB strategy!!

IMHO, this looks great, esp. with the design elements of your dress. It would be more difficult to pull off with a longer hem or a top and skirt. I think Angie has an article on mid-calf boots, but maybe it only addressed slouchy ones. I am envious that mid-calf boots flatter you. [My calves are way at the other end of the spectrum, so I am fortunate that I don't live in boot wearing country.]

I think proportions are perfect. I've been finding that I reach for midcalf more than anything these days. I love them with this dress. You look great!

Thanks ladies! I haven't thought of wearing a jacket over this dress as it is pretty loose, but I will try that! Looks like there are some differences of opinion re: boot height. I chose not to go with black because it would be an all black outfit.

Would love any visuals of similar outfits with better colors and proportions!
