There was a blog post recently on how to build an outfit. I generally choose a key item that grabs my attention and then build the rest of the outfit evolves from there. Sometimes the inspiration happens the day or night before, but more often as I'm showering. Sometimes it only happens when I open the closet. And if nothing jumps out at me then it's time for a FFBO.

Today's key item was the blazer. It got lots of love in the first few days after I bought it. I realised today they I hadn't worn it in a week or two so I decided it was time for another wear.

The purple stripes came next as I pondered what I felt like wearing under the blazer. I didnt want to be as playful as a print tee but not as quiet as a plain black tank. And I thought the purple stripes were overdue some love.

Finally the bottoms and the boots. I thought of how much I enjoyed the cropped, rolled boyfriend jeans and boots look that I wore a few days ago and decided they would be ideal.

Accessories that followed were my usual watch and a string bracelet. This beaded necklace that my DD made me for Mother's Day caught my eye as I was leaving... I thought the colours were perfect. Oh and finally - the bag... I turfed my entire handbag out onto the bed in search of something and since it was empty, I felt it was time for a little change. I pulled out this rarely used little thing. It was a freebie with a makeup purchase from ages ago but I've always thought it cute so I decided to give it a day out. The pink and plum picks up on my stripey purple top. And it's tininess is practice for when I buy a clutch!

So there you have my thought process. Did it work?
