WIW: Esprit Pants, Cognac jacket & new Gap tee

There’s been a lot of discussion regarding dress pants on the forum lately and I’ve certainly put in my two cents worth on the trials and tribulations of finding the right trousers for work. These are one of the pairs I recently bought at Esprit and I must say I love them. The dark chocolate is a lovely neutral colour, the drape on the legs is perfect for me (not too tight in the thigh),the fabric is substantial, the rise is perfect, the waistband lays nice and flat and the fit on the waist and butt is a 10 in my estimation. I hope to find other colours at Esprit in this make (really hoping for navy). I may have finally found “my pants”!!!

I’ve paired them with my cognac faux leather jacket and a new t-shirt that has cognac, cream, beige and purple in it. I’ve tucked the top and belted the pants with a recently thrifted small men’s belt – I love the black and cognac tribal design in the leather and the rather “beat up” look of the belt (sorry I don't have a close up photo)

Does this combination work? Proportions ok? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

I think it looks FABULOUS love the fit of the pants on you, something that I haven't succeeded with yet and cognac is a lovely colour on you

Now this is a pants outfit! This is just as fab as any midi skirt ensemble, TS! I couldn't articulate what was off about the vest version but this is awesome and very you! I hope you got that other outfit sorted.

Such a fun top --- I think that purple in the pattern really adds an extra glow to your skin. Or maybe you're just glowing with triumph from finding your perfect pants? That jacket has so much personality too.

I'm no reliable judge of proportions (still in the learner's seat), but I feel a smile breaking through every time I glance up at you in that fabulous outfit. And I love that you have such love for every detail of your accessories, and it shows!

Bottomline: You look delightful, and you sound delighted. What could possibly top that? (wishing you luck with the navy pants and whatever other colour works on you!)

This looks so great - really fab. Love the colors in the top with the jacket, and those pants are wonderful on you. Now I'm wishing I'd looked harder for pants when I was at the going-out-of-business Esprit outlet... Anyway, love the outfit, Shannon!

Pantabulous! I love the fit and drape of these--what a releif it must be to have found your perfect pants. Kind of like finding your perfect jeans fit, it's such a huge milestone! These are gorgeous and fit you perfectly. I love the way you putrogether the top half of the outfit, I think a small men't belt is the perfect solution to get something you know will be a bit beat up and be real leather. I need to thrift myself one of those. Love the print on the blouse the the style/collar of the jacket! Super-duper fab! I can see your vintage Cartier bag with this. You should get your bags in on the picture because I always wonder what bag you carried!

I too have no luck finding great dress pants. The main reason being they are NEVER long enough for me. I really need at least a 36 length to wear with heels

MaryK - I'm starting to realize that proportions and fit make a HUGE difference in how heavy or tall I look so need to pay attention to that!
Teri - I could give you the 6 inches I had to cut off these for hemming - would that help?

Shannon I love the colors, items and fit of this outfit. Fantastic. You look fantastic. Glad you have your go to pants. I have 2 pair I like from Esprit, but have tried a dozen more that have not worked. I haven't given up on them though completely.

That jacket is fantastic!! The collar is simple and clean, yet so modern, interesting, and a bit edgy. Lovely with the top, and the pants are beautiful on you. Wear and love, you lucky duck - you've caught a sartorial hippogriff.

This is another one of my favorite outfits on you! I love seeing your WIW's! I'm happy for you, that you could find some fab pants! I really love your top/jacket combination, too. The colors are really interesting, and attractive. Do you have an Esprit store locally? I was at one here the other day and everything was 70% off! (Calgary) I didn't try on any of their pants because I have the same problem as Lori--not long enough.

This is a great outfit! The pants fit you so well, and that t-shirt is fantastic (I actually thought it was a silky blouse because it seems to have such a nice drape).

This shows that fit and styling are key to making pants look fab. There's not a wide margin of error. In any case, I hope you feel as good about this as you do about your skirt outfits!

Jem - we do have a local Esprit which is fabulous. I find buying online difficult because of fit issues and I just hate the receive/disappointed/return cycle!

You've got a good eye Makrame - although it is a t-shirt, it's a silk blend. It feels wonderful against the skin.

Yay! This totally confirms that you look great in both skirts and pants for me, FABULOUS outfit! Love these colors and proportions on you, the bit of print is great and the jacket pulling one of the colors works perfectly (you have a purple leather jacket too, yes? That would also work with this top). I also love cognac with black, and you've mixed the browns with the black really well here. My favorite small detail is your oversized watch though

Love it! The rise of the trouser is perfect for you, making a tucked shirt a definite "do." Love the way you pop the collar and scrunch the sleeves on the jacket. I'm checking out the Esprit site tonight!
