This is a little less authentic version of a 70s outfit, but I wanted to give it a try, because in my head it worked great. In real life, I think it's a bit less so.

I started with my new railroad stripe trousers (they ended up not quite bootcut - more straight leg), and paired it with my new citron batwing mesh sweater. To keep the batwing shape from being the only seventies part of this outfit, I added shiny shoes. The tank under the sweater is navy to echo the navy stripes of the pants, and I added a belt for waist definition (though they're not high-waisted enough for it to really matter.

In normal life, I'd wear this untucked or semi-tucked, but I decided to try out a tuck in the name of making it a bit more 70s like. My mother had a dress this color of citron, so I associate it with my childhood (like lots of 70s things - I was born in 76). But I suspect it's more of a 60s mod color, right?

In my head, I thought that this citron would be terrific with navy (see pic 2), but these pants don't read navy and white, they read light blue. I think this makes the combo less successful, and will probably try it with darker jeans next time.

What other improvements do you suggest?

(Pardon the rumpled legs - I had to let out the hems, and haven't pressed out the creases yet. I'm a very RATE hippie)
