WIW: Denim & Skirt Formula - YouLookFab Forum

After my crazy (and fortuitous!) errand-for-boss-turned-into-denim-jacket-purchase success yesterday, I knew I had to try Angie’s formula for pairing a skirt with the jacket. I’ve popped under the jacket a plain short sleeved white tee, added my multi-coloured abstract floral print A-line skirt, defined my waist with one of my vintage men’s belts (my new snakeskin belt got lost in the pattern of the skirt), and put on my now comfortable Boutique 9 peep toe booties. For a pop of colour, I’ve added Kelly, my green handbag. For jewelry, I’m wearing a simple silvered glass bangle.

So did I get Angie’s formula right? How are the proportions and colours in this outfit? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

I'm curious, Shannon--are you going to wear the jacket all day, or do you take it off inside? Somehow I have it in my head that a jean jacket is a piece of outerwear, not like a blazer. My husband reinforced this by asking me one morning, when I thought I would try wearing my jean jacket over a sleeveless dress, why I didn't "take off my coat and stay a while"!

Absolutely perfect! And silly me, I never thought to wear a belt with that type of skirt. I have no idea why (does the skirt have loops? It seems like the belt might move around a lot?) but it looks fabulous.

Rita - yay! I knew I could make this skirt work with the right footwear and top. Hopefully I'm finally getting proportions sorted out.

Claire - you rebel you! Black or navy would indeed work - do you think Angie would mind the deviation (lol)?

Velma - I do indeed leave the denim jacket on all day, treating it like a blazer.

Christieanne - the skirt does not have belt loops but so far, the belt is staying put. It's quite a heavy and substantial belt so maybe that helps?

Rae - I'm hoping the jacket works with the Shabby Apple skirt too!

Suz - thanks for your forgiveness! I actually tried it with the snakeskin belt first, but the pattern of the skin just kind of got lost in the pattern of the skirt - didn't quite work.

This makes me want to go and buy a cropped denim jacket! And I don't even wear skirts. I may get motivated to wear them if I keep seeing such great looks. You look AWESOME in this outfit and what a perfect find. Love everything about it, esp. your smile. And I would wear the jacket inside too - unless it got too hot but even in summer in the south it seems a light weight jacket can be good in the cold AC. See, I'm already trying to talk myself into "needing" a cropped denim jacket.
