A few days ago I posted that my friend was defending her PhD thesis and asked about the ideas for the gift. I decided that the best option was something that was for her and her alone - not something that the family can use or something that will buy a thing, but pampering - because she deserves to put her feet up, relax and enjoy her new reality. So, thanks everyone who suggested it. It felt so good to buy it. I know she would not buy it herself, this way she will have to make time to be no #1 on her list at least for a little while. I also included "a voucher" to babysit her kids when she decides to go out and celebrate.

I did not attend the public part of her presentation, but came to the celebration afterwards.

My outfit was inspired by Denise (CocoLion) who was inspired by Inge and Greg, you can read her thread here. My first Inge and my first Greg copycat. Black on top, white on bottom. Check, check. Would you believe this long jacket is 13 yrs old? It is reserved for special occasions, although I'm eager to wear it more, so it's been out this Autumn more than ever before.
The rest of the outfit is a simple black top, white jeans and white belt. I was even happier with the choice of my shoes after seeing Karen's wedding guest outfit in yesterday's blog post. I had also visited my hairstylist for a quick bangs tidy-up while I wait for the next appointment, which made me feel much better about my hair overall. I am wearing red lipstick and matching red stud earrings. Although pearl studs would look great too, bringing more white around my face, I felt that red ones were less formal for the campus environment, so that was my nod to casual/uni lifestyle.

I felt great in this outfit, I hope you like it too. Comments and suggestions for improvements welcome.
