WIW: Birks with my boy (ETA pic of DS & 2 purchases added)

I'm off work today to take my son to his surgical consult (he's having jaw surgery) and then we're going out for a casual lunch and some shopping. I'm looking forward to having some mom-and-son time

Today's outfit started with my olive cargo pants, paired with a white and blue striped drapey tee semi tucked with a black leather belt. I then added my mixed media denim jacket (LOVE this jacket!) and popped on my new black and white polka dot Birkenstock sandals. To say my feet are happy in these sandals is a major understatement - finally…a trend that works with my physical attributes! To finish off the outfit, I went with my red specs and my small red snake print leather clutch/wallet, and my taupe/silver wrap watch and silver wedding band.

Hope this works 'cause I'm heading out the door. I will catch up with all of you later - I'm so far behind in reading posts and even replying to my own. Sorry 'bout that

ETA: Here's a pic of my "wee boy" (all 6'3" of him!) just as we were leaving. He lives in his jeans and has several fits, brands and washes and also has a shoe addiction, which he freely admits.

We're back from the consult (which went well - surgery on May 29th) and did some shopping in a funky little store right downtown. I found it interesting that a mere year or two ago, there is no way DS would be caught with me in the same store, let alone both buy something from the same store. Heaven forbid! But now at 18 he's coming around to the fact that parents are human beings after all - lol! - and we had a blast in this little store showing each other stuff. Most of it is geared towards the younger generation but I did buy a beautiful soft blue/blush/white drape tank that will work beautifully for casual and work wear under a blazer (pic #1), as well as a pair of "cinnamon pink" Vans for summer casual (pic #2). DS bought two fabulous tee's from a brand he really likes and until now, had to order online. When I asked the young male SA if I could try on the tank, he kind of looked at me and so I said "I take it you don't get a lot of the 50 plus crowd trying on your stuff?" and he oh so politely said "not so much, but it's kinda cool you're going to".

My Birkies were amazing for walking downtown since we weren't parked anywhere near where we had to go. Oh please….let the Birks trend continue for a while
