This was one of my favorite swap meet finds of all time: a Nicole Miller pseudo-galaxy/aurora borealis print dress. I had been saving it for New Year's or a wrap party for DH's work or some other event warranting a Bodycon Dress, but today I thought I'd debombshell it with my drapey knit linen sweater and sport some pink flecks while it's still BCAM.

I liked the look a lot but, for whatever reason, this outfit made men want to talk to me. They normally don't (trust me), but I got comments today. Really disliked that, so I'll probably stick to the original plan and wear this baby only when I'll have a spiffy DH on my arm to debombshell the look.

Having met rae in person, I'm totally shocked that this isn't a daily occurrence for her...but if she says it's so, I'll have to take her word for it. I'm glad the dress will still have a life when Hubs is around--it's completely gorgeous!

You look amazing, but I totally sympathize with your reasons for being uncomfortable wearing this again. I would do the same thing. I have always hated unwanted male attention, and doubly so now that I am attached. I admit I used to wear my silver ring (gift from my parents) on my left ring finger on occasion to ward off male attention.

Very nice dress! I love it paired with the top, I never would have thought of that but it works so well for a day time look. Too bad you're not going to wear it like that again, it really works well.

Not that you don't look lovely, but the sweater definitely defuses the bodycon.

It's very feminine. It seems that you generally wear "tougher" clothes.

Diana, I have totally done that, too. And I was waving my left hand around like a crazy person trying to get one guy to go away, but I guess it was too subtle. Not that these people were being gross or rude; I just don't enjoy it.

Rae, it looks awesome! Maybe you were just portraying an air of confidence they found appealing? I dunno - I had random people come talk to me when I wore my bright red jeans here in FL last fall. I thought perhaps they assumed I was outgoing because of the bright color?

Rae, the reality is that you're gorgeous, and lots of men feel free to chat up women generally, with no regard for whether you are wanting them to do it. Perfect what I call the "go thither look" (this is the opposite of the "come hither look") and wear this dress with pride, because it was made for you.

I got propositioned today by a drunken guy at the bus stop, who used Kona as his opening line: "Pretty dog. I like long legs. I like pretty women with dogs with long legs...." Wha...? And I'm covered head to toe in a down puffer!

Wow, I LOVE this on you. I am sorry it garnered unwanted male attention. But you know...you really look great in this, and to me it is a very understatedly sexy look even in all its body con glory - not tarty in the least!

This is easily one of my favourite outfits of yours. You'll have to plan LOTS of outings with your DH so it can get the wear it deserves!

This looks so freaking great both ways, and the first way is very modest in my opinion and one of my favorite outfits of yours I think ever. Maybe it was just weird guy day? Full moon? (love Una's example) You should give it another outing and see.
ETA: along the lines of Mo, maybe the dress just makes you feel great and you were projecting a confident/intriguing/positive/whatever energy.

Wow, Una, maybe it WAS the moon... either that or you need a puffer for poor Kona to hide her shapely legs. At least yours makes into a great story!

I've been told several times throughout life that my relaxed face sort of settles into a permanent scowl that makes me unapproachable. I guess I've been taking that for granted all these years.

That dress is made for you! And because you are such a very beautiful woman, I find it strange that you don't get that kind of male attention every single day. Don't make that stop you wearing the dress, de-bombshelled or otherwise, you look confident and stunning in it. I understand that unwanted attention is annoying, of course, but please don't let them decide how you can dress, because then they win.

Oh, that's funny, using a S.O. to de-bombshell a bodycon outfit. I'll have to remember that. Your dress is so gorgeous on you, but I'm sorry that weird males might have put you off wearing it. Sheesh. They need to get some manners.

Men can be SO stupid.

Rae, that face is called a NYC face. I had one for the subway. Worked like a charm except the one time the guy next to me was looking at pictures of women having sex with animals and really wanted to share. All the nail-eyed bitchface in the world didn't stop THAT loser. I changed seats.
