WIW and Broke SYC - YouLookFab Forum

Hi,

This is the debut of my 3 items that broke the SYC challenge mentioned previously here. The skirt in the first photo and the blouse and skirt in the second photo are the offenders. Both of these are new lengths and silhouettes for me.

Amazing that I cannot go into a store and browse right now, yet I still managed to purchase something. Silly online surfing. *sigh*

#1-Grey Skirt
This skirt is lined and quite warm.

#2-Skirt and Blouse Team
Another skirt on the longer side for me and it has pockets! The blouse has a bird print on it.

Suggestions for styling these skirts minus footwear are welcomed and thanks for looking!

Thanks for posting! You look great, and you really know how to flatter your pretty figure. In #1 both pieces are so classic - I would love to see the skirt paired with a more edgy top, perhaps a cropped open-knit sweater over a body-con tank or turtleneck in a contrasting color - maybe even a top with an asymmetrical hemline. Or maybe even keep the BB shirt put throw a vest over top for a shimmer of funk.

I like #2 a lot; the length of the cardigan works well to my eye with the length of the skirt, and the belt brings it all together. I would love to see it with a colored belt - purple? - or even a belt with a touch of metal studs, something to contrast stylistically with the delicate feminity of the shirt...?

While I *cannot* condone breaking SYC (smiles) this is a beautiful outfit!
The skirt is so lovely and full. I like it even better with the cardigan belted on the outside! (You must be an hourglass!) That is such a lovely, delicate print on the blouse. I can't think of many other ways to style this, as this is perfect, but for some reason I'm seeing a cross-body bag in my mind. Do you have one?

Modgrl-Thanks! I can't wait to wear these skirts with some tall boots. Maybe in another month or two. I really like the skirts and boots look I've seen on the forum (and your WIWs). It would be a refreshing change from my boots and skinnies formula from last winter.

SYC isn't an iron cage, it's a set of guidelines, I think, so if these delight you, wear without guilt!

And the bird print is terrific. Enjoy those clothes; a girl has to do SOMEthing when her foot is still healing, after all!

Lisa: TOTALLY WORTH IT. Those skirts are going to be your best friend through at LEAST two seasons and probably into early Spring, too (and especially during your intensive recovery)! And the bird print blouse...always allowed to break SYC.
