My crystal ball is out for polishing. Still, I think the solid safari dress has a lot of timelessness going for it. There aren't a lot of dating embellishments.
If the essentials of the dress are things you're drawn to despite trends-length, sleeve style, buttons, feel of the fabric-it will last longer than if you're going to want to reflect current season lengths, waistlines, shoulders, etc.
Safari is always either In or Not In But Classic. This dress might be updated with accessories for a number of seasons if you're a fan of wearing well-suited old friends. Or it might make you yawn next summer or the next when everyone's wearing their safari dresses differently somehow. I don't know you well yet but I suspect you may lean toward the latter(?)
The print is going to date faster, especially with the empire waist and contrast trim. Empire already looks dated to me, but I'm not an empire gal and may have even missed a memo declaring them back In.
Again, if these elements are You anyway and you're of the Old Friends school, that might not matter at all.
I wear my best hemlines, waistlines, shoulder lines and sleeves with fairly little regard for the decree from on high. A perk of the years it takes to know what does you favors and what doesn't, and of watching the fashion cycles spin with such speed, gravity, and silliness that for the most part it's entertainment and not marching orders.
