WIW 9/3 --yay or nay

To belt or not to belt. That's my question for today. I snapped a few photos to compare and I'm still not sure which is the better option. The last two show my new crossbody bag. Thumbs up or down?

Hmmm.....Definitely untucked, but I think maybe a wider belt would work better. I love the new bag, though!

Love the colors! I like both tucked and belted. But untucked and unbelted looks nice, too, with a relaxed vibe.

The second one is my favourite- I think it makes the outfit look more cohesive and "whole" because the proportions are all worked out, and I love the colour of the belt! The cross body bag is really nice- I never thought I would see such a stylish one.

gosh, this one is hard.
I do prefer it untucked (although tucked isn't bad)......
I really like the other two almost equally as well. I think Dusty might be right about a wider belt. That might really pull the whole outfit together. Unbelted is a nice breezy look too. and what a fab bag! Is that a Fossil? I lusted over a turquoise Fossil in Macy's for quite a while.

I like the second one -- out and belted. But I also love it out and unbelted with that fab bag. I am in the market for a turqoise bag and I love that one!

I think that the top is making you look boxy (esp tucked into the skirt)-- I like it belted, but would prefer a wider belt as well. Loose is ok, but I think it would look better loose over slim jeans.

If I am correct the bag is a Fossil, Queenie-- the Sutter cross body. It is the one angie has in the YLF store. I am considering buying one myself, but I think it might be too small to hold the water bottle that I must carry. Definitely beautiful though.

Is there a reason you are wearing the crossbody at that height?

The colour of that top is divine.

Tucked- I like this but not so keen on the belt through the loops, Do you have an obi belt? it could be wrapped around to cover the join between skirt and shirt
Loose and belted- I like this, a wider belt could also look great
Loose- I like this also

Kim and Mary K, it is the Sutter from the YLF store. It was on sale at Nordstrom and I was in the market for a new bag. I love the color--perfect for my uber casual days. Just got it in the mail yesterday. (I'm not a SYC participant.)

Thanks for the suggestions. Dusty, I thought untucked was the best at first too. I'm still on the fence because I think it also looks a bit messy. I will try a wider belt and see if that helps. I'm used to wearing low slung style belts--the more traditional belts have been my nemesis.

I like the shirt untucked, and slightly prefer it unbelted. With the slim denim pencil skirt on the bottom (and those fabulous legs!), I sort of like the loose, "surrendering your waistline" look. I agree with the others, and with your assessment, about maybe trying a slightly wider belt, slung a bit lower, if you want to go the belted route. The color is beautiful on you.

I am Noel Wu. I’ve commented on a few posts on this site and find it very interesting. My purpose is to add value and give you the answer you are looking for. I have been a Couture Image Connoisseur for the past 22 years. I have helped countless prominent professionals, many of whom include famous public figures and celebrities. Here’s my professional advice for you.
If you hired me as your image consultant, the number 1 thing I would advice is to lose the denim skirt all together. It’s only for a teenager. You look very professional & you are a beautiful woman. A denim skirt doesn’t go with your profile. That is a beautiful blouse. With that blouse, I would advise wearing a black skirt. If you don’t have one, a navy skirt would work. If you are an earth tone person – you can go with a khaki, dark brown or dark olive with that blouse. It looks more fabulous untucked with no belt. With an appropriate skirt, you can choose to tuck it in. To create a silhouette, if you wear a black skirt, you could wear a black belt to accentuate the waistline. Dress it up – black or navy. More casual would be khaki.

Hi Kellygirl --

What a great color on you! Right now I'm leaning toward untucked / #3 as my favorite.

However, I agree with the thoughts that trying #2 with a wider, possibly hip-slung belt is worth a try. I think that would probably beat out look #3 for me!

If you can stand to add a layer, I also think you could treat the top like a jacket -- add a light-colored tank/sleeveless blouse beneath it, leave it open, and add the belt from #2 (or try a thicker belt).

Oh kelly I am no help. It looks great out but your waist is so small I like it belted also maybe like the others said a different belt. That color is so pretty on you & love the new fossil bag. You are not a dork you look lovely.

LOL-- I was just wondering if you had a preference for that height. I usually see them worn a bit lower-- especially the bigger ones. I think they are generally worn a bit lower because they interfere less with arm movement when walking that way, and a bit less with the silhouette. Women's bodies are so cool-- if you hold your arms out in front of you palms out you will see that your hands point outward a few degrees from the elbow point. Our bodies are actually like this so you can swing your arms freely when locomoting without your (women in general's) wider hips getting in the way. Sometimes ppl will wear the smaller crossbody's up high, tucked under their arm almost as well. It is a beautiful bag either way.

The color of the blouse is so fabulous on you!! I kept staring at the pictures wondering why I couldn't decide. I think Elly may be onto something...that denim skirt may require a more fitted top. Could you try a side by side with skinny or straight leg jeans?

The color of the bag is yummy and the mix of the purple and blue is strikingly pretty!
