WIW 3/7 and 3/8: Stripes for fun with the young man

1-3. Last night I threw a welcome home party for my son, who returned home last weekend after two years in Japan with the Marines. What started out as a low-key dinner for a few friends turned into a party for 25 at a nearby hotel's restaurant and it was a huge, huge success! I wore my beloved Bailey 44 striped dress to coordinate with the lovely blue shirt he picked out on a last-minute shopping trip to Banana Republic, where he also got that fab linen blend blazer and, although you can't see them in the photos, a pair of lovely off-white pants. It was awesome watching him power shop -- he knew exactly what he wanted to look like and he made it happen! (And yes, we've since talked about unbuttoning the bottom blazer button!

4. Today we drove up the coast for a reunion with his dad, aunt, cousin, and the cousin's new husband and baby! I laughed because the aunt was also wearing white skinnies, and the cousin was wearing a peplum top. We were a very stylish group!

I love the shoes and bag together in the last picture. I like this outfit a lot, and I'd also be curious to see it with a top that's black or black-and-white. I feel like you could do some really fun monochromatic things.

Mary -- you look like the Marine's date in picture 2! The blue dress is flattering and occasion suitable. But it's the white jeans, peplum and b/w theme outfit I love the most. The shoes and bag work together like sushi and soy sauce!

Jeane, I have a hard time not gobbling up the baby myself! He just turned four months old yesterday and he is so laid back and friendly and fun! He went out to lunch with all of us and was a perfect, smiley gentleman the whole time!

Funny story, Julie, about the cami's: We were shopping on Friday and everywhere we went they had all kinds of camo garments. DS turned up his nose and said "We don't even wear those kinds of camo patterns any more. We're all about the digi[tal] cami's!"
