WIW 2/25: Beatles Brunch and Butterflies

Today was our last full day in the Big Apple and we really made the most of it! We went to BB King's in Times Square for brunch and a concert by a Beatles tribute band, which was amazing -- the best part was seeing my Marine twisting to "Twist and Shout!" And it turned out to be George Harrison's birthday, which was super cool!

After that we went to the Museum of Natural History and visited all our favorite dinosaurs and saw an amazing exhibit of live butterflies, then back to the Lower East Side for a return to a fab Vietnamese restaurant for dinner. When we finished dinner, two miracles occurred: First, a cab appeared just when we needed one, and second, when we got to our apartment it was SNOWING!!! Big excitement for these two So Cal babies!

Oh, the outfit is Levi's flares, Aldo boots, a fab striped button-down from my consignment adventure with Zapotee, Land's End magenta thermal underwear top, H&M striped sweater, and Hanna Anderson pea coat from my local consignment store. Plus my fave Michael Kors gold tote. Thanks for looking and commenting!

I love the different stripes and colours together, and that jacket looks like blue velvet! what a great day to have with your son. Snow too!

Look at you in all those layers! You can't do that in sunny SoCal! I love that your long underwear top is magenta. Fab new striped shirt, and it looks fun and warm under your navy striped sweater. Claire, I have to tell you I have been LOVING the cold-weather layering! I am pleased to say that I haven't been seriously cold a single time, even though it's been rainy and windy and all manner of non-warm conditions around here!

The fleece-lined footless tights? ZOMG genius!!! My legs have been super happy all week! Look for them to do double duty as winter PJ bottoms when I get home!

And the magenta thermal top is hilarious -- I bought it because it was the only color left in my size, and lo and behold it was perfect for the striped top I bought on the trip! Too funny!!

I swear, I have a new appreciation for weather-appropriate dressing. If and when we have any cold weather in So Cal, I will be ready!!

You have been layering for NYC's cold weather like a pro. I adore that butterfly exhibit when they have it. The Bronx Zoo also does a Butterfly exhibit in the summer and it's larger than the museum one. Maybe a return trip to NY? Loving the striped top with the striped sweater layering here, and bootcut jeans are refreshing from all the skinnies I see lately.

All your outfits for the trip have been amazing and fun and very appropriate for the "environment" you have been in. What a fine looking young man. And he loves his mom. That makes me forgive him for leaving out the laundry basket and breaking your ankle, LOL !!!! He certainly has made up for that !
