WIW 1/9 and 1/10: Kate and Leather and Blue and Gray

1. Yesterday we had a donor event after work at the local theatre so I wanted to look reasonably prosperous and fashion-conscious. I ended up being really happy with this look -- I loved the black-and-white silk blouse with the black-and-white KS jacket!

Black and white jacket: Kate Spade

Black leather pencil skirt: Halogen
Black platform loafers: Adrienne Vittadini
Black tote with gold studs: Coach
Ginormous pearl earrings: Drugstore.com
Black fishnets: Oroblu

2. Today I trotted out one of my first consignment purchases -- the teal trapeze jacket from Talbots. I love it with the new watercolor print blouse from Nordstrom!

Ooohhh, outfit #1 is to die for! I really like that jacket and the black leather skirt. Fabulous Kate Spade jacket! I think I like it most in the first and third version--maybe because I prefer to see your pretty waist! I l really like that blouse in #2 also! The teal color is great on you but the jacket looks a little big on you. Maybe the way you're standing?

I was wondering that myself. It's a trapeze jacket so it's supposed to be waist-surrendering, but I wonder whether it's too big in the shoulders at this point. I don't know. I think it still looks fine buttoned.

Here's a recent one (funny -- combination of the two outfits above!) where I don't think it necessarily looks too big. Hmmm...

You just got tooooo...tiny, lol, I agree blue jacket and black skirt from #1 looks kind of big to my eye. I Love how the gray skirt fits you much better!

Love the first outfit. (I do love me a leather skirt) The second outfit something about this sleeve peeking below the bracelet length sleeve of the jacket is not quite doing it for me. Maybe it's just me?

Mary k, I just love your style...you look fantastic in both...but I agree, jacket seems too big even in look 3, although not as obvious..it its the loose arms and shoulders I am seeing...But you are allowed to hide your waist, we don't have to be hourglass figures all the time. since you are so slender the square blue coat just emphasizes your petite lower half.

The first look just makes me want to go shopping for everything and copy you!

Wow! I love your first look. You look like you are about to whip out your cheque-book and donate enough money for the theatre to become known as the "Mary K". (As in "Daaaahling, did you catch that show at the Mary K last night? It was FAB-u-LOUS!")

I can't comment on the fit of the jacket, but I do have to say I love the colour!

Can you roll up the sleeves of the trapeze jacket? they look long for what they're supposed to be. I want to steal both of your blouses. They are so gorgeous!! Fab kate spade outfit!!

I love the outfit with the leather skirt! I like the jacket in outfit #2 but maybe it would go better with a blouse with shorter sleeves? The rest of the outfit looks great.

Life is very good, TYVM! I love that Halogen pussy bow blouse so much I ordered it yesterday in white. And I'm all excited because I'm heading out for NYC next month for a week's vacation with my LANCE CORPORAL! (Although devastated that I will miss you and the YLF gang by a week!)

I attempted a MaryK copycat this am. sorry for poor lighting pic. my nordstrom pb blouse arrived yesterday and I paired it with ann taylor slim fit pants, booties and a teal blazer since I'm not much for changing out my bags!

I am loving your look #1 even more, need to find a grey skirt! and a leather skirt!

I adore #1!! I hope you will wear it in New York. Hey, do we get to see your travel capsule?

I love the teal jacket, too. I'm not sure it's too big at all. It's supposed to fit wide, right? I wonder if Modgrl might be right about the sleeves, though? I don't actually know how long the sleeves on this sort of jacket are supposed to be. Might be worth investigating.

Anyway, it is a great colour for you, O Queen of Colour!

LOVE both blouses, those prints are just fabulous! I really like the leather skirt and loafers with #1. The teal is pretty with #2, but I'm with the others who think the jacket has gotten a wee bit too big for you; I really like the gray pumps here (and I know you could've worn teal ).
