WIW 1/13 and 1/14: Boyfriends in the bar and Pinterest semi-copycat

1. Yesterday was a lazing-around-the-house-watching-the-playoffs day, until we decided to wander down to a local restaurant to take advantage of the Game Day special and the big-screen TV's in the bar. I swear, nothing says "it's the playoffs!" like a nice pair of boyfriend jeans!

Pewter boat shoes: Sperry

2/3. I know it's ridic, but I love Atlantic-Pacific and I can't stop coyping her, even though I'm half her height, twice her weight, and old enough to be her mother! I pinned this outfit a few days ago and believe it or not I only realized I'd kinda-sorta copied it this morning after I got dressed!

Magenta skirt: Halogen
Purple jacket: Amber Sun
Citron blouse: Ann Taylor
Purple satchel: Dooney & Bourke
Print scarf: Coach
Gold "reptile" pumps: Jessica Simpson

You can't see it in the photo, but the print in the scarf includes some shiny metallic gold accents and I love how the gold pumps echo (er, match!) that!

It's freezing cold here today and I put my purple wool coat over the whole thing and felt very colorful indeed! I added a grayish silk knit tank under the semi-sheer blouse and it worked out really well for both modesty and warmth.

I love your write-up this morning, MaryK, and can so relate to what you said about the playoffs and A-P! You go from play to work magnificently and how cool is it that you pulled together the A-P look in a subliminal way. I'm all over the casual look of yours in #1. That's the way I like to roll. Plus, I am so copying you on it since I have a boy's J. Crew shirt and Angie's cream GAP sweater and the BFs, too.

It's fun to have a two-sided aspect to your look, isn't it. Your last outfit is such a happy burst of color; you may have been inspired by A-P, but the reverse could have happened just as easily--you look so good in that outfit!

Your outfits always seem occasion-perfect. The colorful purples and citron brighten the day. Do the Sperry boat shoes stay tied? I've been eyeing some but am afraid they might need to be fussed with.

I love both outfits! You do color so well! I'd love to copy #1, but I got rid of my boyfriend jeans since they were very old and didn't fit right anymore. I haven't found a new pair yet unfortunately.

#1 I love the colors in the shirt and the sweater does a nice job of toning down such an attention-grabbing print. The shoe/jean combo works really well. All together it is a really nice cohesive look that I could see myself wearing (especially since #1 features cobalt my favorite color.)

I think #2 is an age/industry appropriate take on your inspiration. (I like it better than the inspiration) It is so colorful yet cohesive. I love it. The colors are rich saturated jewel tones (oh, so much eye candy but I can't stop myself from looking!) I love that you stayed in the same color family and that all the colors are intensified with the pop of citrus yellow.

I am marking this as one of my favorites. Your mix of color and pattern here is super sophisticated, emphasizes bold strong colors and a pattern as if the colors weren't enough (and that is SO hard to do). Bravo!
