WIW 11/17: My version of "edgy"

In Maya's thread a few days ago, Angie said that "edgy" was different for everybody. I just looked it up in the dictionary again, and it said "daringly innovative; on the cutting edge."

Now, this isn't all that daringly innovative for most people, but in my business-formal legal office, wearing a big flowered satin skirt (it's black and red -- something about the photo is making the background look kind of purple and pink) with a wide leather belt and a moto jacket (ponte knit or not!) is pretty far out on the cutting edge! LOL And I am kind of loving it!

What do you all think? Nicely edgy or just crazy out of control?

That skirt length and style is very current for spring. I think Louis Vitton (done by Marc Jacobs) had a similar skirt style.

I like the contrast the tomboyish moto jacket gives the feminine skirt, heels and pearls! That is daringly innovative to me!

I like it a lot! I have a black and white skirt that is this length and looks very old-fashioned formal, allthough it's just from the Gap. I'll have to give it a try with something like this... You have nice "edge"!

SS, I have always been a gigantic suit-wearer, but I tell you I am pretty much done with suits unless the suits are FABULOUS. I'm still pretty wedded to skirt-or-pants-plus-jacket-or-cardi, but that formula gives a TON of room for creativity while still looking businesslike.

That skirt is really out of this world (good). wow. I also really like it with the jacket. I actually think the length and shape counts as edge as well because I feel like designers are just starting to push that look but it hasn't really caught on yet. Very cutting edge, if you ask me.

MaryK, how do you manage to find such great pieces? This outfit took my breath away!!

This is my all time favorite look of yours so far! The skirt, pearls and pumps are in line with your classic sophistication but the moto jacket adds just the right amount of on trend without you trying to look young. Plus the fact that the jacket is knit, drapes nicely on your body and looks more office appropriate than if it was leather.

Besides ingenuity and your exceptional sense of style, I think what makes this outfit edgy and not crazy (for a legal office environment) is the fabric of the skirt, read: luxurious, classy, and glamorous! Its satiny finish with bold print is to die for.
I wouldn't call it "nicely edgy"... I think it's "sophisticated edgy".
