WIW 11/15 - Brown and black sweaterdress

I love this new sweaterdress! It's the first one I've ever owned, a Nine West - I just got it on supersale at Burlington Coat Factory a couple of weeks ago but wasn't sure if I could deal with the cling factor and needed shapewear. Today I decided to suck it up and wear the shapewear...

What do you think? I'm always worried about the side view in a sweaterdress but this seems okay.

Good grief, you have lost your marbles if you think this is just okay! The dress is perfect for you, and you look really great! (especially since you mentioned on another thread that you love Missoni--this is very Missoni-esque!) Love the tights and the booties with this--so fun but still work appropriate.

When I said "seems okay" I meant the side view. I have the flat-backside problem but the dress hangs straight enough for me. I do love it and my husband's eyes lit up when I walked into the office (yes, we share an office!) - always a good sign.

I am happy with it. Isabel, this dress was originally $128 marked down to $29.99!

Ok, now I'm going to be the voice of dissent. I don't like the sleeves. Both the length and how they flare out at the bottom. Can you scrunch them up a bit? What will you be wearing over them? Are they long enough that you can put something over them easily?

Kate, they are wide and to the middle of my forearm. They are not scrunchable and it would be hard to layer something over them. Do you have any other suggestions? Maybe bracelets?

Is it difficult to get a winter coat on over the dress?

I tend to wear a lot of layers year round, and 3/4 sleeves are such a pain. I buy them with the knowledge that I tend to scrunch up my sleeves anyway, but forgetting that I need to be able to hold onto the sleeve of the knit top to get a layer on over it (or the knit top needs to have short sleeves). So for this practical reason, I'm trying to avoid 3/4 sleeves if I will need to put a layer on top (in AZ, 3/4 sleeve jackets and cardis end up being my outermost layer, so they're ok).

Visually, I'm not sure what can be done about the width when worn alone. When there is a lot of width at the sleeve opening I end up feeling like my arms are little sticks poking out from underneath. Maybe I'm just picky and it's not a problem for you or most people. You have great arms, and I think a more fitted sleeve would show them off better.

EDIT: notice how the Lord and Taylor model has her arms positioned to hide the bell sleeves?

AG, it looks great on you! I don't see any clinginess at all. Great find!
I don't think you need to layer anything over this dress for an added interest as it is intetsting enough itself. However what about a warmth factor? Can you put a coat over these sleeves? Do your uncovered arms get cold while indoors? If you can deal with these two issues then this is a great dress!

Sveta, good point - it is FREEZING here today! I wore my down coat to work, but we keep the office nice and warm so my arms are okay. I think if I had to I could have a low-cut cami underneath for more warmth.

I am a sleeve-scruncher (like Kate) so I'm finding this sleeve length very nice as I don't have to keep scrunching.

Wow, LOVE! Everything - the dress, the hose, the booties! I actually like the bell sleeves - a little boho but cute. You could always add some bracelets.

Looks good to me, side view and all. My trick for a sweater dress is to go up one size, if I can get away with the sleeves in the bigger size I find one size up helps reduce the cling factor, a LOT.
