The flannel shirt and Docs are pure 90's style, but the super skinny jeans and high-low shirt hem are totally modern!

I have been wanting a plaid flannel shirt for a while now. I even looked for my real 90's vintage ones when I was visiting my parents, but only found ones in really ugly colors (I think my sister may have gotten there before me, LOL!) So instead I ordered this one from Target. I really like the colors and the high-low hemline. Could not resist pairing it with my Docs for a 90's grunge look for a casual Saturday. =)

Sorry for the horrid picture quality - it gets dark really early these days and I did not have time to adjust my camera settings. Took a close-up snap of my necklace because I got three compliments within the span of 5 minutes on it (the checkout people at Whole Foods are really nice!).

That plaid shirt has beautiful colors and it is fun that is a high low one.
Now that you mentioned the plaid shirt that I had in the 90's has the same color combination than the one I bought this year. Coincidence? I think not

I was checking out their plaid shirts online. My next day off I'll have to check out the selection.
During the grunge era I was also know to wear plaid flannel shirts with sweatpants, wool socks and Birkenstocks. Sorta crunchy granola grunge.

Cute top! I saw these shirts at Target this weekend but didn't notice the high-low hems. I wish I had paid closer attention. I really like this shirt on you and now I may have to make another run to Target.

Thanks, everyone! I have to admit I was ridiculously excited about this outfit. I came up with it right after I ordered the shirt, and was so antsy waiting for it to arrive (it took forever!). For those of you who are interested, it is this shirt:

I ordered one size up because it's a junior's size and because I wanted it to be looser fitting, but my regular size would probably have fit too.

Anna, is it bad that I really want to see you put together a "crunchy granola grunge" outfit? I think you could actually make it really cool and funky.

Celia, I know I had some great plaid shirts in the 90s! However, when I tried to loot my childhood closet I only found hideous color combos (the worst was the brown, tan, green, and purple plaid). In college I had an awesome Pendleton green/blue plaid flannel shirt with leather elbow patches - wish I knew where that was now!
