Aida, I love this rich wine colour on you. And that jacket is so fab I can hardly stand it.
This whole conversation is fascinating to me. Before YLF I would have just thrown any jacket on, regardless of the length, with skirts or with trousers of any kind. I had no idea there were okay lengths and not okay lengths for this. I actually want to do a self-education post about this soon; I have four jackets of different lengths and I want to compare, with plain black dress and trousers, just for the fun of seeing the different proportions at work.
All that by way of saying that my naive opinion probably isn't worth much to you, but to my eye, this outfit works. It might work marginally better with higher waist trousers. Or perhaps a less bulky jacket (though I know the bulky tweed is the whole point of this outfit, so not saying you would actually want to change that.)
I think it ALSO looks good with some top peeking out the bottom, as in your second example. There, I think the black trousers also aid in creating a long line, despite the horizontal line of the top and the high contrast. If the top were lower contrast there would be less horizontal line. Not that it looks bad on you as is; it looks good to me!
