WIW - White "Lace" and Denim with Python

Haven't been doing pics lately so I thought I should give it a go. I don't think I've posted this before, but in any event it's what I'm wearing today in the heat of Texas summer. Really, to me 100 degrees as a high temp isn't as bad as it sounds. I think after 30+ years in Texas I'm pretty used to it and sometimes even wear my "summer" jeans in August.

I thought about ruffles this morning when I read Angie's post, and then I thought about lace - and how both are things I just don't feel that comfortable wearing. This lace print tee however, is more my style so I reached for it. It's super soft and maybe a little RATE in person. I mixed it with my python print belt and white/tan UGG slip ons and my daily summer bag in off white.

I opted for no jewelry as when I wear a patterned top I sometimes feel like skipping adding any additional embellishments.

Top: Current Elliott Freshman Tee in Lace Print
Shorts: DIY cutoffs (Levis)
Belt: ? $10 on Amazon last year
Shoes: UGG
Bag: Elliott Lucca (it's an "Elliott" kind of day for me I guess)

I always appreciate input, suggestions, etc.

Edit: Oh, and my hair is just in a ponytail, I didn't get it cut. In case anyone wonders.

I like this a lot! (And that is coming from me, who also has an ambivalent relationship to ruffles and lace.) I agree with you wholeheartedly re print sometimes feeling like embellishment enough. It is for me, anyway.

Love the fit of the shorts on you. And the juxtaposition of the slight femininity of the top with the more rugged denim.

What a fun look! Love that lace print, and I can see why you let it stand alone to fit your personality better. The shapes & style really complement you. Also, I love white & blue in the summer.

I've adjusted to the heat a bit since moving here too (this is my 3rd summer here & it doesn't feel as terrible as the last ones did, although I think that's also because the weather's been a bit cloudier & cooler this year), but I still run warm so I need to wear breezy stuff when I'm going for walks. Otherwise, I feel fine when I walk out the door, but within 10 minutes I'm hot and cranky. Of course, when I'm inside, the a/c keeps it between 78-80, which is still warmer than I'd prefer, but much easier to dress for/handle than 100.

Love it too - and from another who is ambivalent about lace and ruffles. Shorts length is excellent and I like the white bag to pull it all together. I wouldn't wear any jewellery with it either, I know what you mean about not needing it with a patterned top.

Thanks Suz! I need to change up the shorts I post - I actually do wear other colors but seem to always post a denim look since they are my favs. I just got a new pair of olive shorts that are really soft and comfy and plan to make some new outfits with those.

E- Thanks you and yes, I do think this year has been less brutal than the past few. At least winters are great.

lisap - thanks, it's funny how many of us aren't into lace or ruffles but so many clothing items have lace and ruffles.

kellygirl - thank you, those Uggs are getting a lot of wear this summer - I think I like how simple they are in style, esp the white/tan version (I also have the striped version, which I also love)

jackiec - thanks! Yes, Texas can be extreme that's for sure. We actually had a day where it didn't get to 90 recently - and I wore jeans!

These shorts are a great blue against the lighter top and accessories.
I did a pony-beat-the-heat 'do today as well
