WIW - turtleneck, plaid and oxfords

Today I wore my old navy turtleneck (which is more fitted than the new one) with my plaid skirt to work. As it's been not that cold I was comfortable in oxfords and just needed a denim jacket outside.

When I went to another library to copy an article I got asked twice by students whether I could help with something - seems my outfit looks very "librarian".

I wouldn't call it librarian, at least not by me!

I love the skirt paired with oxfords. And the turtleneck looks terrific on you.

Thanks Thistle. The turtleneck was a present and I didn't even buy it myself, but I really enjoy wearing it.

I know that this appeared a week ago, but I just found it. What's wrong with looking like a librarian? Maybe a librarian from the 1950s would be a bad look, but I'm a librarian and I've worked with a ton of librarians who are all fashionable, stylish, and smart. I'd take the students' request for help a compliment! Just saying!

Agree librarian is a noble profession - take it as a compliment. I think the turtleneck looks terrific with the skirt.

Thanks Linda and Shevia! Just to clarify, I am a librarian too. This was in no way meant negatively. Just that this never happened before and I thought it funny that wearing this it happened twice. Like I'm wearing what students think a librarian is supposed to wear...

So glad a fellow librarian is on the Forum! I know you didn't mean it negatively, and I think that you look great! It's just that other posters seemed to imply that librarians are totally unstylish and frumpy, which as you know, is totally NOT TRUE! I guess I do have that "librarian look" whatever that is, because I'm always being asked for help, even in stores. My husband, kindly, told me it's because I have an air of competency which others sense. I'll take it! I hope you love being a librarian as much as I do!

And I agree it's not true. I'm still at university, but I'm already working as a student assistant, part time. My boss is the best example for what you're saying - I totally want to be her when I grow up (she's over sixty). She has great style.

Thanks Neel! I've actually worn a version of this outfit today. I hadn't planned to take pics, but since this post surfaced again I'm posting them here. I've changed the tights to textured ones, layered over nude hose for warmth. And since it's colder the denim jacket was replaced with my peacoat.
