WIW - My favorite Spring trends - pic heavy

Hello YLF, I haven't had as much forum time, I miss every one! In honor of Summer Solstice, here are some Spring outfit pictures I've collected. I think they represent my favorite trends of the season.

Pictures 1-2-3: Trend - Non-denim bottoms. Loving the tapered casual pants I found at Zara. Love this style of trousers because I have an excuse to put my hands in my pockets (not possible, really, with denim).
Picture 2: Trend - black and white.
Pictures 2-3: Trend - Cropped boxy tops.
Pictures 4-5: Trend - casual vests
Pictures 4 & 6: Trend - Boyfriend jeans
Pictures 7-8: Trend - Tonal dressing. The greys are getting far more play than the white. I've only worn all-white twice. Thanks Angie for convincing me to get the lower priced white Kuts -- all-white is really tough on a ranch with three big dogs and a fluffy cat.
Picture 9: Trend - Statement necklaces (also shown in pictures 1 and 2).Remember the wedding I went to? YLF picked this top for me. So I would have to say coral and pinky oranges are another happy favorite this season. Pictured here with my boyfriend's Dad.

Bonus picture 10: De-bombshelled short-shorts! Don't worry I didn't leave the house. If I pose/walk around with my head down no one will see how age inappropriate these are for me. The sad fact is, that short-shorts actually flatter my legs better than knee shorts (picture 11). But I can't get myself to go out in short-shorts.

Great spring outfits - and you always look great. Couldn't you roll those shorts up one more time in #11 or are they too snug at that point? I like to roll mine up more too - shorts right above my knees are not a favorite look on me either.

I'm with Anna and I can't pick a favorite, but I must say that I love you in the oversized vests. They are fantastic on you!

Your tonal dressing is gorgeous and, er, um, you CAN where short-shorts! The door is beckoning. Go through it, please!

I like all these outfits a lot. My favorite is probably #6 -- love the draping, the soft color, the sandals.

I like that your boyfriend's dad wears color! And you are beautiful in the coral.

Denise, you look spectacular in every one of these. And what a fab collection of footwear.

The short shorts do flatter you! And I know the feeling...I think the same is true for me (except I don't have your great legs). Anyway, point being, I think I look better in shorter shorts also, but feel they are age inappropriate so only wear around the house and beach. And I am getting more used to the knee length ones. I actually think they look really good on you here -- the tapering helps so much!

Wedding outfit is beyond fab on you.

And I just love, love, love the tonal looks.

Denise I love every pic. You have such great style. I have the same problem with shorts. Short ones look better but I am too old. sigh...Why do older people have to cover up? Are we that gross to look at? I get the whole not trying to be young thing. But what if we are not trying to be young, but stay cool or wear our most flattering proportions.

WHERE do I start with sizzling style quotient? You are THE MOST STYLISH RANCH GIRL IN THE UNIVERSE. Such sass and humble confidence. I'm going with #1, #2, #4, #6, #8 and #9 as my absolute faves!

I love the long shorts! And don't find them any less flattering than the shorter shorts. You've styled the shorter shorts in a better way, which may be affecting your opinion.

I agree that the short shorts are most flattering! I tend to find shorter shorts to be more flattering on my legs too. I think you rock them!

I always enjoy your WIW and this is like the extra large fashion guide version. You wear it all very well and I'm waving at a shoe twin in 11 (I also like the longer shorts and don't find anything unflattering about them on you!)

I like you in short shorts AND long shorts! The short ones look great (and are age-appropriate, IMHO, you've got the gams), but the long ones also look really good. Why do you think they are less flattering? They show the shape of your lovely legs, just bare less skin.

The non denim bottoms ARE so refreshing! I am really enjoying them too. Of course, your denim bottoms are awesome too. You look so good in everything. I especially love the big sweatshirt top in 2 and the tonal look of 1 both with the big necklaces. So fresh and pretty. Coral is amazing on you and BF's dad looks fab! You look amazing in both long and short shorts!

I believe you know I think you + warm brights = fantastic so I'm so happy you let yourself buy that coral top. Gorgeous festive-but-chic summer wedding guest look!

Always a treat to see your choices and combinations.

The short-shorts do look fantastic on you from the front, and if they look as good from the back I'd be hard-pressed to stay indoors! The longer ones are fine too, of course. Is mid-way between the 2 options a no-go zone...the worst of both worlds vs the best of 'em?

You do such a good job of making the trends your own. I love your statement necklaces- your wedding outfit is to die for.
I'm also crazy about #6, with the drapey top and the BFs.

I hear you about the shorts- I always felt that shorter ones were the most flattering on me, too, since my legs have always been the slimmest part of me. But I have relegated my shorts wearing to the beach (mid-length) or the occasional bermudas for casual cook-outs or the like. You really do look fabulous in yours, so if anybody can get away with them it's you.

An inspiring lookbook of Denise style! I don't see why you can't wear short shorts. These are not supershort. I have a sweet spot for shorts that is still decent IMO as long as I'm supercasual or dress it up (like my shorts suit the other day).

Wow - better than a professional lookbook. I love them all but #7 especially stood out. You should wear the short shorts unless you don't want to, if that makes sense, but I love the longer shorts just as much.
