WIW - JJill silk blouse - YouLookFab Forum

I thought I would post this outfit since it includes a JJill blouse that I got on sale after seeing this post http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....use-j-jill . If anyone is interested, this is a chance to see what these blouses look like in real life.

It's a rare case when I can actually tuck a blouse (it is soft and long enough for that). Th fabric is different from the other silk blouses I have (JCrew and Express); it seems a bit thicker and less "shiny". The color is plum, the size is S. I know the sleeves are a bit long but they can be folded if needed. Seems like it's going to be a nice workwear item for spring and cool summer days with AC. What do you think? Tucking OK?

The color is very muted in real life, that is actually one thing that I was not entirely satisfied with but since my other silk shirts are in very bright colors, I thought this would be a nice change for the more "subdued" days. Angie, I would love to duplicate this shirt in "juniper" (teal-like color) but it is all gone in my size.

Celia, wearing the shirt with something light on the bottom is a good idea but I don't think I have any light color bottoms that would work with this. If I ever get light-colored bermudas I might try that option, I have never tried wearing a silk shirt with bermudas for smart casual.

I bought this same blouse in rose and blush. So far, I have only worn the rose one and I love it. A great blouse all around.

Thanks for the review. I have been thinking about ordering one since the first post. How do you find the sizing? I really wanted the sold out turquoise color too and was thinking to size up to M but worry it would be too much fabric to tuck.

dianthus, since you just got the Brooks Brothers Spago shirt, we can compare sizing on those. I got BB in size 8, which was almost perfect but started gaping a bit after I washed it. I sent the BB shirt back and am waiting for size 10, which may or may not be OK for me. I got the JJill shirt in size S, and it is just about right. So it looks like S in JJill is equivalent to 8-10 in the most fitted Brook Brothers shirt style.

Lovely color and fit looks right for a silk blouse. Good to see a jjill in action (especially not a pastel which is what I expect from them - nice).

Makrame, thank you for this post! I've been eyeing these blouses and wondering how they fit. Do you mind if I ask your measurements? How does the blouse look untucked? They appear shapeless on the models on the website, can you say anything more about the fit of the blouse? Thanks in advance! KQ

Looks good! Thanks for the review - I was eyeing these as well (such a good price for silk!) and was wondering about size/fabric.

KQ, I am 5'5", 135 lbs, 34D bust size. Usually size 6 or 8 in AnnTaylor and similar stores. I got a small and it does not gap at the bust.

The blouse is almost completely straight and fairly long when untucked, I will probably wear it untucked with skinnies or straight jeans, too, the length is about right for that. I would say in terms of fit it is similar to the other silk blouses I have - most of mine are long and fairly loose-fitting.
