WIW - Black Shirt Project, again

Hi everyone,

Inspired by all the posts lately, I've done a WIW today. A while ago I decided to see how much could be done with a hand-ful of black shirts. After purging a bunch of stuff from my closet yesterday, I uncovered these navy eyelet shorts, and paired them today with a fluid-fit summer-weight black sweater, and my super-comfy black sandals. I really like this look, which is helped by the gorgeous fall-in-summer weather we are having in Aurora this week. I like how the textures of the shorts and top keep the dark outfit from being too blah.

Just realized the textures are totally lost in the photo ... the shorts are eyelet, as mentioned, and the sweater is that sort of slubby lightweight knit.

Nice! Thanks for clarifying - it's tough to see the textures online. I do love the black and blue combo - it's one that I rarely try but would love to based on the combos I see here. Good fall-in-summer outfit! We are in the middle of a heatwave here on the left coast so no long sleeves here!!!

I love this. I have been wearing -- and planning to wear -- a lot of navy and black. I like that it adds some interest and depth to an outfit, and I think you're illustrating that perfectly here.

Oh I *love* long sleeved tops with shorts, and your version looks just perfect on you. I hope you wear this outfit again! Yes, textures are so difficult in full-length photos, which is why I try to get a close up as well. But who can resist eyelet in the summer?

Also, I saw your reply on your purging post: I completely agree. When I try to wear Angie-like crisp, tailored clothes, I feel uncomfortable and not myself. So you're wise to note that clothes need to fit your personality as well: what a strange alchemy style can be.

Beautiful! I'm a huge fan of navy and black together... it's good to see it in summer as well as winter. And I like the long sleeves and shorts combo. Perfect for our "fall in summer" as you say - although we are a tad humid too.

Thx everyone for the kindness and encouragement! Carter they are Rockport sandals and the line is adiprene by Adidas, which I think refers to the cushy sole, but not sure. Super comfy!
