WIW - a week in jeans of all colors & new work dressing epiphany

Here are my work outfits from this week. I was more than happy to go back to all of my jeans. The pink silk sleeveless shirt in #2 is new, based on Angie's recommendation. And today (#6) I was told that I look like a smurf(ette)!

After two years of not quite knowing whether sleeveless is OK at work or not (officially it was, but unofficially I was told it is quite frowned upon) it turned out it was !!! Apparently as long as it does not include thin spaghetti straps it is fine. I was very happy about that with hot and humid weather. So my summer work formula now gets a new twist where the casual blazer is substituted by a vest (outfits #5 and #6).

#1/2: Navy silk tunic - BR, emerald skinnies - H&M, denim jacket - AE, snakeskin wedges - Bandolino

#3: Navy knit jacket - H&M, pink silk blouse - BR, cream skinnies - 7FAMK, metallic loafers - Born

#4: White denim jacket & black draped top -Express, dark wash straight jeans - R&S, pewter wedges - Me Too

#5: Cream cowl neck top - H&M, grey linen pinstripe vest and pink skinnies - Express, pewter ruffly flats - Me Too

#6: Cream cotton mote vest & cobalt top - Club Monaco, light blue skinnies - Express, pewter wedges - Me Too

A veritable smorgasboard of jeans. Love the looks particularly3 & 5 - I find that shade of fuschia particularly appealing & love the ruffles in 3 peaking out from the jacket.

It must feel great to get back into your jeans - not to mention sleeveless tops in the heat. I would LOVE a vest like the one in # 6. That is wonderful on you!! I really like #3, too. The colours are gorgeous together.

A FAB week of outfits, Tanya! 3 is my favorite. You also wear cropped toppers beautifully.

Love that new blouse - such a pretty ruffle. Also those pink jeans - fun. Bet you are happy to get back into jeans but you did so beautifully on your non-denim challenge weeks as well.

Do you wear a lab coat over your top? Just curious if that makes a difference on choice of tops.

Thank you very much, everybody! It was like a family reunion getting to wear my denim after two denim-free weeks. I need to make sure my outfits are more balanced next week, otherwise I will get boring.

Christeanne, lab coat rules are very strange. Yes, I wear one when I am at the bench. However, there are a lot of areas where one is not allowed to wear one. Or one must wear disposable lab coats instead of regular versions. As a result, everyone in the lab ends up putting lab coats on and off multiple times a day. So for at least some part of the day, the whole outfit I am wearing is visible.

I love #4, it is so dramatic. All of that black, then white near your face. I have been thinking a lot about how to transform my black wardrobe. Basically, black is unflattering on me. I like your idea of wearing a light jacket. It's so simple but really works.

All of the other outfits are cute and fun as well. You really know how to dress to create a flattering, modern silhouette Tanya!

I'm new here, but #3 is my favorite, and I don't see any smurfette in #6. I'm guessing whoever said that just doesn't like blue!

You collection of colored jeans is amazing. My favorites are 3 and 4. How nice you can wear sleeveless tops. Just in time for the summer heat.

#3 is outstanding. I love the lines and color. Very nice and this type of outfit could easily be a formula for those days when you are rushed.

Welcome back, denim! Hooray for being able to wear sleeveless tops, too. I really love how you have layered the waistcoat over sleeveless tops in the last 2 outfits... must remember to try this sometime.
And, um, yeah, I don't see smurf at all. But I'll wear my leprechaun dress (coined by, you guessed it, someone in my lab) and we can hang out together.

You look wonderful as always. I'd say there's a HUGE difference between spaghetti straps and the type of modestly sleeveless blouses and vests you're wearing here! Very professional looking IMO.

The option to go sleeveless is certainly going to change work dressing in he summer a lot for better. Now I have two summery formulas for jeans: the original one from a couple of weeks ago with woven top+knitted ( or in general casual) blazer and this new version where the blazer is being replaced by a vest. I really like having options!

He he Diana, would you guess it, what I was called the first time I wore my emerald skinnies? Leprechaun, of course! Especially the second time around when I wore them tonally with a lighter green shirt. I find these descriptions quite amusing, as the person who comes up with them is a good friend and not mean at all. There was even a suggestion to make me a hat from the bright blue lab gloves to complete my smurphette look

Great week! I like all your colored and blue jeans! It's great to have an option to go sleeveless in the summer (and I love your pairing of sleeveless tops with vests). The blouse and jacket in #3 are gorgeous, too.

Don't see why sleeveless would ever be frowned upon - it actually works best under lab coats, in my opinion.

We have so many lab coats that I ended up buying special "super strength clips" for my lab to make it easier to keep lab coats up on the hooks (the coats come without the little fabric loop for hanging). I also picked the clips so that my students got some that match their favorite colors (green and pink, just like the colored tape on their boxes and racks).
