WIMW: Niagara Portion of Trip - New White Denim Jacket

My apologies in advance for taking up the board this evening. Here are a few WIMW for the NIagara leg of my journey. To recap, I will be attending workshops about a new organizational structure my company is adopting. The company is a fitness company; we ordinarily work from home so dress will be casual but not sloppy. The weather is supposed to be nice (23 centigrade) the first few days, becoming very hot for the last two days. Meals will mostly be supplied but on our last evening we are going out to a winery for dinner.

First up, my potential winery outfit. Cleo dress, new Calvin Klein sandals, and denim jacket or sweater in case of air conditioning. Which do you like better? And is this a good outfit for the occasion?

As for the white denim jacket, this belongs to the "Leave no retail stone unturned" YLF school of shopping. I had looked in vain for one of these. The other day I noticed they were back on the Old Navy website. So I went and tried them on...but the fit was off on me. Too long and not big enough in the shoulders. I was sad.

Then I mosied over to the kids' section. And lo and behold, what did I find? This one is the right length and has a bit of stretch so it is SUPER comfy and the sleeves stay scrunched. The price was also a lot better. What think you?

Next, a couple of daytime outfits. These are basically what I have been wearing at home for the last few weeks. I have variations of same (with denim shorts, different shirts, etc.) I think this is dressy enough for the occasion, but if you tell me I am crazy I will reconsider.

Finally, my newly altered skirt with the sandals. Does that work for another daytime outfit? And can I wear it with the white denim jacket? What about with the Report booties?

FInally (and thank you for your patience) I am planning to take these outfits to Banff as well. It may not be warm enough to wear them, so I may leave the blue dress, in particular, behind. But would welcome your thoughts on this.

All look great to me! The only thing I did think was that the lovely skirt outfit would be so winery-dinner appropriate - you look amazing in it. Not that the blue dress isn't lovely too, but the skirt actually seems dressier to me.

That is very interesting, Texstyle! I will take your thoughts under advisement, as some of our lawyer friends might say.

IRL the fabric of the skirt is a coarser cotton and the dress has a very slight sheen (both are cotton). So that's why the dress feels "dressier" to me if that makes sense. I also feel more dressed up in a slim cut because I don't wear it on my work-at-home days (whereas I will wear a full skirt at home.) But I did think this could be a good alternate dinner outfit for at least one evening and I hope to wear it at Banff as a dressier option. Thank you!

Wow Suz - you are in excellent shape for your Niagara portion! All of these looks are perfect and fitting for the occasions they are meant for. The white denim jacket is absolute PERFECTION in fit! and I love it with the Cleo dress (so glad that dress worked out for you - you look gorgeous in it!). Your altered skirt is also perfect with the jacket and I love the outfit with the booties.

I seem to have an awful lot of clothes in my suitcase but I am really packing for the impossible. It's all very well to say I need a week's worth of clothes for a month because I can do laundry (true) but I realize that with a temperature range of 30 centigrade degrees, I have to be prepared for just about anything. So I'm bringing many layering options.

Have a great time in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Lots of great memories for me, we spent our honeymoon there (long long ago) and my parents were big Shaw Festival supporters.

Oh and that Cleo dress looks so good--didn't Shannon get one too?--that I had to go look for myself, but sadly, nada.

I love all of these! If the blue dress outfit is for the last night of the trip, I would bring both the jacket and the cardigan just in case if your white jacket needs laundering. I always forget that white denim does not always stay pristine when traveling so now I try to bring a backup.

Makrame, that is very sage counsel. I am so glad you weighed in on that. you're absolutely right - it's for the last night and the denim may indeed need washing by then. Good call! The sweater's in the bag!

All of these are really, really great. #7 is the standout to my eye and I prefer the sandals with this skirt. You look so incredibly chic I just can't stand it! I didn't have the chance to comment on your packing woes post, but it's been awfully fun to read these last two posts and just see it all come together for you. You look spectacular.

BRILLIANT, Suz! You have a stellar wardrobe and the pre-packing panic seems under control All of these are FAB, FAB, FAB! I prefer the white denim over the blue dress because it is more summery and slightly more unexpected. But the black cardi is great too, so it comes down to your preferences and the weather. I also thought of the red skirt outfit as dressier than the blue one, but both are super. Aida is so clever with seeing opportunities and yes, the black cardi would be great with the checked long shorts. You look sharp and ready for action!

Oooh, loving this, Suz! Especially the dress and skirt, but of course that's only because they're especially glamorous-looking. The shorts outfits are knockouts for their purpose too. I'm so impressed that *that* is how you dress for working at home (sitting in ancient harem pants and tanktop myself at present).

I'm seconding Makrame on the sweater coming along anyway. It should pack pretty small, and be very useful as an extra layer if it is cold in Banff. Can you button it up over a top? And wear the jacket over it then? It can even be a mock 'top' if it buttons all the way!

Also, I wonder how the violet top would look layered over the dress (as skirt) if roomy enough --- it's a colour combination I love...

Speaking of love, what pretty sandals! I only ever see that Y-shaped strap with a toe-post. So clever of you to find that in a more comfy version!

Thank you again, everybody! Manidipa, the sweater, unfortunately, is a non-buttoning flawy kind and very very light (basically an air conditioner defence mechanism for the shoulders). But I will have other sweaters in the suitcase - my striped cotton topper and a cotton and wool sweater in case it gets really cold.

I had never thought of pairing that top and the dress! What a fun idea. I may indeed give it a go. The top fits snug, but it might be wearable as a sort of "vest." Great suggestion!

Aida, you're right - the black top goes with the shorts, too - I have worn it that way. It's short, so I have to tuck, but I'm okay with that. And Harmonica, the card also works - it's ink blue but I don't mind black and blue together at all.

L'Abeille - I will try to channel some honeymoon bliss!! It's a lovely part of the country so I am sure I'll enjoy it!
