WIMW - Wedding Guest in Pants

Okay, so I've said it before, I'm not a dress girl. So....here for your critique are two wedding guest outfits featuring pants. The last is a wildcard featuring a dress, never worn (and maybe too casual for a wedding) but it's one dress that actually feels pretty comfortable. Maybe due to the pockets. And casualness.

Pants would be perfectly fine for this Texas wedding in summer. It is at night so maybe I'm not formal enough? My formal wear capsule is pretty much right here. lol.

1. Navy lace top (jcrew factory) and BR navy jacquard pants with silver jewelry.
2. Same BR navy pants with washed silk top, tortoise look belt and gold tone jewelry with tortoise and shell accents. Pearls (can't really be seen).
3. Detail of #2 top and jewelry.
4. Topper for #1 or #2, navy with jeweled detail stripes.
5. Wildcard dress with gold tone jewelry. The belt was not really snug enough but I didn't think about it until after I did photos. Could be worn with other belts but the only other one I have that works is black and it seemed too black on black to me.

I absolutely LOVE the concept of #1, Tex. Gorgeous pairing of the lace and jacquard! Just beautiful! I have a poison eye for the length and hem width of the pants so please bear with me there. Pretty accessories too! Needs a modern clutch to finish off the look.

#2 to #4 look like business casual to my eye and not as fab for a wedding.

Angie, I know the pant length isn't ideal. I can only have it lowered about 1" I'd guess. Would it be worth it? I could also have them tapered of course. What do you think?

Edit: And I did order a taupe clutch today with silver accent. It is quilted and has a silver chain accent and optional chain strap. I think it will go really well with the shoes/hair bookending. (fingers crossed)http://www1.macys.com/shop/pro.....6&RVI

I think #1 would be great for a wedding. Your other outfits look very nice as well.

I like #1 a lot and I think it would be great for a wedding. 2-4 looks too daytime and casual for a wedding. I like the dress too but it sounds like you would be more comfortable in #1.

You look just wonderful in a dress! But I do understand the hesitation of wearing something the does not feel like "you". I think #1 is stunning, the lace top, the jacquard pants, perfect combination. Angie's thoughts on tailoring would raise the fit to exceptional.

But I'm in love with the pants and lacy top for the wedding. I think having them tapered would be the way to go. You look fabulous in them and with some tapering they will be perfection. Plus, you'll feel completely like yourself, which is a real bonus. Nothing better than feeling *you* when you are dressed up!

I like both #1 and the dress, but think you should wear the one that you feel most comfortable in. I think it's worth getting the pants lengthened and maybe tapered to get more use out of them.

The slacks and lace top are beautiful! I'll leave the tailoring details to the experts. The dress looks terrific for a wedding too.

Thank you ladies - I'm glad #1 was approved - I will be calling a tailor to see about tapering those pant legs. I agree that the other pants outfit was much more business casual. It was exactly what I thought when I put it on, but I wanted to at least give some comparison. At least I know I can wear these pants on more than one occasion. And the pants and lace top are both machine washable which is a huge plus to me. The dress is still a fun item to have and I will consider wearing it for a different time, maybe just out with DH for dinner. Thank you for your kind and supportive comments.

I love the dress, and think it would be awesome with a chain belt...sometimes a long necklace can even work! #1 is really nice too, and I agree that the other outfit is too casual...it has a golfer's feel to me. Enjoy!

Are you open to having the pants shortened a little AND tapered, Tex? They do fit you beautifully.

That said, if you love them this length - keep it that way!

Angie, yes, I am open to having them changed both in length and taper. I'll have to see if I can work it out with a tailor though. I do worry a bit if they ruin them I'd be out for my outfit - I don't think I'd find another pair of pants quite like these.

I love the frock & think it woud be fine for a wedding. I Like the first look too but would like the trousers to be slightly more tapered & with strappy sandals.

Any of the nr 1, 5 and 6 will do quite a beautifull job for you!
