I am. Don't think this look would be flattering on me at all. Too much fluff in my middle!

Wait wait, I can tuck into low-rise and still be on trend? That is something I could get into. Tell me more!

Angie, I will try the long & leans but to get them to be loose on me I will need to size up at least two sizes and that might throw everything off. From experience I can attest that jeans just don't hang loose on my frame unless I am about 10 pounds lighter than I am now

I'm very afraid of tucking in! My mid-section is my absolute least favorite part of my body and I think tucking would emphasize what I've been trying to hide ever since I had kids!

I've not tucked for a long time but when I did the tucking never stayed in. I'm a bit short waisted with a thick waist too. When younger, my best tucked look was with low rise pants. Now I fear doing that would emphasize muffin top unless major mid-section shapewear was involved.

I tuck all the time. Here is a typical, everyday look for me: dark flare jeans, belt, t-shirt, jacket (to add some polish). In these photos I am wearing athletic shoes because I spend a lot of my life on my feet. Although I also wear boots with low heels.

I think my look could be improved/updated. That's why I'm here, but that's for another day.

Am I scared no? But I don't tuck into jeans; I do tuck into skirts and dress pants though

*raises hand* ME! I've tried it in the past and i've never been very happy with the results. The only time i'm happy tucking a top in is when paired with a high waisted skirt or skirt that sits at my true waist.

I don't think I am scared to tuck. I didn't realize so many women were so leary of it. It's been so long since I have tucked a top. This thread definitely makes me want to try it!! Tomorrow I will give it a shot and see what happens.

I'm not exactly scared, but yes, very ambivalent for all the reasons other ladies had mentioned.

Everyone has tucking homework - accept Laura and Lisa who have done theirs!

Laura, the L&L's run a little roomy to start off with. Try your normal size first

I think I'm open to the tucking trend, BUT I'm a little confused, too. I just got over my penchant for tucking, which the forum deemed not the best look. I think I ended up looking a bit dowdy. I guess it may have been the total outfit as opposed to the tucking specifically. But I do think the tucking contributed. So I'm confused as to what the secret is to successful tucking.

Not a tucker. I don't even have a waist!!!

My problem is that I'm high & short waisted (I think), my torso is not long either, so I believe I have a long tush. grrrh. Tucking in would seriously emphasize the squarish pompi and meaty thighs, and also make me look like mama kangaroo with a pouch up front. Those darn baby fat!

I'll do some homework, and hopefully you guys can prove me wrong.

Hmmmmm . . . I dont' think I'm scared of tucking - I just haven't tried it in a long time! Think I will give it a go today and see what happens!

Hmm, I just saw that there's a homework assignment. I will get on with it this weekend.

Yay, glad to hear my blousy top tucked into low-waisted wide leg jeans was successful So no, I am not scared of tucking, but it's not my preferred method of wearing tops. I'll tuck if the outfit calls for and if I can minimize muffin top. Also, with my rectangular shape I want to avoid emphasizing my lack of waist.

I think this is my most recent tucking. It's not with flared legs, but rather skinnies. Does the homework pertain to the 70's vibe everyone is after? I don't think I'll be sporting flares any time soon.

Mo, you just got an "A" on your homework assignment. Of course, Cathy - you did too.

Here is my attempt: don't know if it works or not - so, please give me suggestions/input! Thank you!

Scarlet, not Angie but I wear low-mid rise pants and tuck with a fair amount of success If you want to keep the 70s vibe you just need other elements to give it that vibe instead of relying on the waist height (like a little neck scarf, type/color of belt, boots, vest, etc.).

I'm hoping Angie will comment on how to do a good 70s inspired tucked look with lower rise pants, because I'm mainly winging it and would love to hear some actual pro advice

hmmmmm any ideas for a Saturday night out outfit that involves tucking?

If I skip this assignment, do I fail the class?

I honestly think this is a look that simply isn't going to work for some body types, like mine. I can't picture this really working well on someone with very full hips, or a voluminous rear end, or really someone with a lot of curves in general, and definitely not for someone with a very short waist and long rise like me. There's a lot less flexibility to adapt tucking your shirt into pants for your body type than there is for trying out a different trend like leggings or skinny jeans. So... Maya, I'm skipping the assignment, too.

High five Kari. We are rebels!

I was thinking about this, and I just have no interest in this look for myself, although I do love it on others.

I so do appreciate the "can do" attitude we have on YLF--but I can't operate that way. There are some things I just need to concede aren't for me, otherwise I get very frustrated and assume it's my fault for just not being skilled enough to make it work--when I know that isn't the case.

Part of knowing what works for you is knowing what doesn't, after all.

I'm joining Kari and Maya in the rebellion. This look simply won't work on my body shape and I'm 100% okay with that!

I think I'll have to try this one. I used to wear my top tucked into my jeans/trousers all the time in my twenties. However, I had a 22" waist back then and am unsure whether it would look quite the same or as attractive after fifteen years, 10+ kgs and three children.....?

After trying the homework and disliking the results, I agree with Maya & Kari on this one: tucking into high-waisted jeans is a difficult look to pull off on some body types. Tucking into lower-waisted jeans to adjust for my short-waistedness (??) didn't work wonders either. Not that it absolutely could never be done, but I'm thinking it's not worth the effort for me. I will still go and try Gap L&Ls at some point and will report back, but I don't hold out much hope.
