Hi ladies, this is my second post. I'm a 55 year old glass artist from Memphis Tennessee and Chapel Hill, North Carolina with two daughters in college, a most of the time great husband and wonderful mutt dog sometimes called Sadie the Destroyer.

Im calling my style "creative romantic chic" and I love feminine artistic looks with a bit of drama and using good basics as a backdrop. Great to be here!

Hello, I go by Caisee and I currently work at a beauty supply store in a small city near Dallas, Texas. I earned my bachelor's degree in 2013 with the focus of online communication and also an associate's degree in business. Besides my retail job, I recently created a website called eventstylesearch.com which is dedicated to me finding and sharing different outfits and beauty items to wear to different events.

Hi everyone! I'm a 53 yo medical executive assistant from the Dallas TX area. I found this site after seeing it mentioned on a FB group that in part of. I actually saw a couple of familiar faces while scrolling through the introduction posts!

I'm not entirely sure how to define my style or if I even have one! I wore uniforms to work for years and, now that I don't, it seems that I've forgotten how to dress myself! I'm looking forward to learning everything that I can here!

Ruthanna, I also live in the Dallas area! Lewisville to be exact.

Hello - I'm Karen, a 52 year old active wife/mom/volunteer. In the past few months I've had to buy new clothes after a hard-earned weight loss (My Fitness Pal and lots of exercise). I had been the same size for over 20 years, so haven't really bought much lately.

I bought my first pair of fancy jeans a few months ago when I dropped below a milestone weight, and that led to cute boots, and leggings, and so on ....

I've already made a few purchasing mistakes, and found this community trying to figure out what went wrong. I live a very casual life in a mountain town with lots of snow and winter sports. I don't have much in the way of dresses or heels. I don't really know what my shape/colors/style are (maybe petite rectangle? possible summer, but I don't actually like most pastels?) but with all the great, supportive information here, I hope to to figure it out.

I look forward to getting to know you all.

Hi everyone, I'm Mia.

I live in the UK.

I home educate out four kids which is messy fun lol!

I love to look put together but I'm not the type to spend loads of time and money on my appearance...my ideal is to get it right and get on with life - i don't ask for much now, do I??

anyway, thanks for letting me join.

Hi, my name is Anne-Marie and I live in a town of 100,000 people in central Illinois. I have grown up on a steady diet of fashion, from subscribing to Glamour and vogue at age 11 to today's many great fashion blogs, like this one. I've never before considered a name for my style, but my first reaction is to call it "polished luxe." Luxe isn't quite the right word, really, but I'll think a bit more about it. What I'm trying to say is that the silhouettes and structure of most of my outfits are clean and straightforward overall (mostly because of my size). However, I deliberately incorporate interest into most every look, in the form of color, accessories, an unusual silhouette, or detailing.

I'm really good at dressing my body proportions and recognizing when proportion looks "off." I'm 5' 6", 175 lbs, broad shouldered and muscular with a very large, blocky ribcage and a smallish bust. I would look rather masculine in shape without the blessing of a defined waist, larger hips, and proportionately slender calves and ankles. Thank goodness.

I'm not very good at incorporating texture into my outfits, nor at figuring out flattering footwear to balance out my body and its menopausal weight creep. I hit 50 in June, and all of a sudden I can't do 4" heels any more. Ha! I also get really warm in the central IL summers, so layering can be tricky for me for about 1/3 of the year.

I love this blog and am so excited to participate.

Hello, I’m Heather, an American living in China. I used to think of myself as a tumbleweed, having never lived in one place for very long, (previously I lived in Canada, Spain, Costa Rica and Kuwait, as well as most of the Western US), but I’m going on my eleventh year in China and I have come to love this crazy place. The days of the drab Mao suit are loooong gone and have been replaced with an anything-goes attitude style wise. I work as a case manager at an international hospital in Beijing, where business casual is the norm. For the last few years serious illness has dominated my life, but I am happy to say I am now a cancer survivor, and with a bright future to look forward to I am now refining and revamping my style.

I grew up with a seamstress mother who made most of my clothes and although I hated it at the time, I now enjoy sewing my own clothes, too. Beijing has a fun and chaotic fabric market I visit often, and I always try to seek out fabric shops and markets on my travels. Nothing makes me happier than an interesting or handmade textile! I have been making a concerted effort to shop for quality over quantity and avoid the fast-fashion world as much as possible, though I sometimes can’t pass up a well-made Zara or Uniqlo find.

In regards to style, I like the words whimsy, eclectic and artsy, and I love wearing special items I have discovered through travels and expat life. I’m a registered nurse with a Master of Library Science degree and a deep passion for science writing. Stereotypical though it may be, I love a slightly nerdy, girly-tomboy look. My style is a work in progress but I look for clothes and accessories that highlight my red hair, fair skin and blue eyes and reflect my appreciation of pattern and color. In my display name, enhui 恩惠 is my Chinese name and means grace, something I also hope comes through in my style choices.

I am looking forward to being an active member of the forum!

Hey there everyone! I am 27, on the shorter side, and about 135lbs. I'm much wider on my bottom half than my top and have a long torso with short legs. I'm crazy about sneakers and dresses. My favorite place to shop is Mark and Estel - I love their swing dresses because they hide my thighs and can be belted to show off my smaller waist. I just used code 50MEL for half off. My second favorite place to shop is NastyGal when they have sales. Both places have a rocker-chic vibe that looks really high end without being excessively expensive.

When it comes to accessories, I love chunky necklaces or fun earrings. I find that rings and bracelets get in the way of typing or doing work. They often snag my clothes as well. I love handbags with secret pockets - places that I can put chapstick, lip-stain, and tissue so they don't get lost among my wallet and keys.

As with all my purchases, I have a bad tendency to shop inexpensive, trendy items so that I can have a million things to wear. Over the past year, I've been trying very hard to stay away from places like H&M and Forever 21 and rather, invest in clothing that is higher quality that is comfortable and will last. Especially with my shoes! What is the point in having 8 pairs of heels in different colors if I can't wear them because they are too uncomfortable? Time to grow up lol

Hi, people! I am Sanita, a 24-year fashion blogger cum fashion lover. I am a style loving, makeup obsessed fashion freak and lives in California with my sweet mom, dad, and two loving sisters. My mom is my best buddy who always used to take me for shopping since I was a child. She is one
of the reasons that make me into fashion lover.

Currently, I am pursuing my graduation from California College of Art in fashion designing with my part-time blogging. California is my favorite city. The people here tend to be warmer and more welcoming compared to the rest of the U.S. California's weather and varying landscapes are a huge
attraction that makes it a great place to live in the United States.

I’ve always been passionate about fashion and styling, but I never knew that it would turn me into a fashion blogger. With the writing, I can inspire women’s to dress well and help them feel confident in their style and fashion choices. I am a huge fan of Chiara Ferragni - The Blonde Salad
blogger who also inspired me to write about fashion, latest trends, and style. Now I’m an independent woman who earns 40K from her writing skills.

For me, fashion is a combination of style and comfort. If I talk about my personal style, then I choose to be in casual wearing a blue destroyed jean with a front tucked tank top. To add a little fun twist to my style, I prefer a styling sling bag, glasses, funky neck piece and a pair of high heels.

Aside from fashion, I love to go shopping, reading books and traveling to adventurous places with friends. I would like to visit Maui, Hawaii, Jackson Hole & the Grand Canyon in future.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Keep on smiling!

XOXO

Hi everyone! I'm Tanya and I'm a 34yr old mother of two boys (2 & 4). I grew up in Sydney, Australia but moved to Dublin, Ireland in 2014 because my husband got a job offer that was too good to refuse. Back home I was a Radiographer but in Ireland I'm a SAHM. We've spent the last year and a half just settling into life and are looking forward to exploring Europe over the next few years. Other than that, I'm pretty boring. I've just lost the last of my baby weight and found this website because I'm looking to overhaul my wardrobe which is currently full of oversized maternity and breastfeeding pants and tops. I've never been a girly-girl, mostly because I always felt too heavy to be able to pull it off comfortably, but I'm ready to embrace that part of me and I'm hoping y'all can help me do that.

I love what I've seen of the website in so far. I can't wait to get to know y'all better.

XOXO
Tanya

Edited to add: Im 5'7 & a pear shape.

Hi everyone!

I'm Emmanuelle. I've been living in Vancouver, BC for the past 15 years, but I'm originally from France. I'm also half-Belgian.

I'm 5'2", fairly small, and a hourglass. My style is probably best described as crisp and feminine, with an edge: a typical look would be an office-appropriate wrap or sheath dress toughened up with a leather jacket, or a businesslike top and skirt paired with statement heels.

The reason why I came to YLF is that my wardrobe is totally outdated. I handwash all my clothes so they last me forever, and as I don't particularly enjoy shopping, I've never had a strong incentive to incorporate newer, more up-to-date items into my capsules. So pretty much everything in my closet is at least 10 years old... and it shows.

Add to that the fact that my colouring has changed somewhat drastically over the last year - I can't seem to be able to wear black close to my face anymore, for example, whereas it had always been one of my go-to colours - and you can see that my wardrobe is in need of a complete overhaul!
Can't wait to see what it'll look like a year or two from now

I look forward to getting to know everyone!

Hi everyone!

I'm Lisa. I'm 49 and a mom to 2, 14 and 10, and a photographer and wife.

I'm 5'6" and about 150 lbs. I live in Rochester, MI and have lived here most of my life. Lived in Virginia Beach for a couple years when I was first married but mostly here in Michigan otherwise!

I used to work in the automotive industry and was a size 6 and 120 pounds. I was a very tailored suit person and now that I'm a bit heavier and in photography I kind of have trouble figuring out what 'style' I am. I've always had trouble with casual dressing since I usually was always dressed up. So....I'm looking forward to finding some answers here. I love the blog posts and believe I'm an apple shape. I have a large bust and the extra weight I've gained seems to be in my stomach area...ick..

I love to travel and we enjoy our little boat on the small lakes around here and we love to laugh and have fun.

My name is Anna. I just turned 57 and I found this site again just recently. I love the real world "modeling" very inspiring! I am still finding my style. I lost 101 pounds about a year ago. I went from a 16-18 to a 4 or a 6. I have been trying to nail down my look for the past 6 months and am still a work in progress. I was fortunate, only part still not in proportion is my upper arms. When I was a teenager and much thinner my upper arms were always bigger. I never wore short sleeves because they were horribly unflattering. Well, still have the same problem now, if I buy something that fits in a non stretch material I have to go up a size or two because the arms are so tight. So I wear a lot of knits. Stretchy arms are my friend! I have perfected the art of cardigan wearing! I am an apple shape. I want to build a capsule wardrobe and am hoping this blog will help me. I like be navy, it's my favorite color. I tend to like clean lines, but am a sucker for indigo tie dye. I realized that a few weeks ago when I was sorting some clothing. I brought home a new tie dye dress to add to the collection of a skirt, 3 tops and scarf.
After the weight loss I went a little crazy and bought a lot of clothes, A LOT. But style wise they are all over the map. I like EF, Ann Taylor/Loft, J Crew, BR, Garnet Hill, TJ Maxx and Target. I am 5'4". Can't wait to get started!

Hello, I have been reading this website for a while and finally decided to join. The blog and forum here are a wealth of useful information, and also everybody seems to be incredibly nice and supportive.
My name is Olga, I'm originally from Russia and now live in the US, in Vermont. After 10 years, I still cannot get used to how casually everybody dresses around here... Many people wear sweats; others just jeans/shorts/chinos and only a few do some sort of artsy/EF-type thing.
Me too, I had felt comfortable wearing jeans until recently, but maybe I'm reaching an age (48) when I start craving something more classic and elegant... not quite sure yet. I just don't like anymore how I look in jeans or some trendy items... not because my body changed that much but rather because I feel differently. So, I'm still exploring because I can't go too far from casual (as you say here, that would be dressing for a fantasy life) but I hope to find an acceptable way to look more polished. Thank you all for the willingness to share your experience and knowledge.

Longtime lurker, finally signed up a little while ago.

I'm a Modern Classic dresser who loves color and pattern. I love Liberty fabric shirts, stripes, and cashmere. I prefer tailored fits, but buy the occasional oversized item. I have spent most of my working life in formal business settings that over time have evolved a bit to some business casual. I am thinking about reducing my wardrobe size now, as I mostly work from home now, but I still need business wear for meetings. I plan to do it slowly, though, as I have in the past regretted giving away some items. I am an overbuyer who is trying to change her belief that "if one is good, three is better". I doubt I will ever be a minimalist, though.

Hallo everybody,
I'm Elisa from Germany, 32 years old, married and a part-time student (German and Literature) and part-time lecturer.
Every now and then I come around to youlookfab and find great ideas on new ways to style an outfit and information on what is new in the fahion industry.
My style is mostly casual, I only dress formal if I want to. I have a strong desire for simple cuts with clean lines. For me no prints please. Mostly I dress in neutrals or jewel tones. I love a mix of minimalistic and ethnic jewelery, since I am of half african roots. I love to dress up for a special occasion and buy crazy patterned dresses, colourful bags and shoes.

Hi girls..
I'm a 36 yr old mother of two. I work in health care industry full time and also am part time lecturer.
I love all of you and the blog and the forum. My style is Classic, Contemporary, Comfortable, if that makes sense. I love doing lists and I've all my clothes sorted in to lists. My weakness was to buy clothes for imaginary lifestyle (casual/beach) and now that I've realised it I just don't know what to do with clothes that get worn once or twice a year. My pet peeve is stuff that gets ruined/fades before expected naturally to.
Love black, red, brown. Love all lip balms/glosses. Can't resist Earrings.
Have started loving Colorful bags thanks to angie. Still change 2/3 times a year only.

Hey all! I'm Krissy and I'm a 28 year old event planner in DC. So happy to have stumbled across this community. It looks great and I'm so excited to find some inspiration to shake myself out of a self-imposed style rut. My style is pretty classic but I do indulge in a few trends from time to time. I tend to gravitate towards a lot of neutral shades so my wardrobe consists of a lot of black, dark grey, navy and cream colored pieces but I love to add a fun pop of color with my shoes or purse. Looking forward to participating and getting to know everyone here!

Hi, everyone. I've been stalking this site for years and only just decided to make my first post. I'm thirty-six years old, married with four children (ages six months to eleven.) I'm a fiction magazine editor and novelist (in submissions.) I also homeschool, and most homeschoolers I know-- especially if they're also writers--tend toward relaxed and comfy. I don't know if it's where I was raised versus where I live now, but I can't do that. I love clothes. I love how an outfit can change my entire outlook. Make me feel confident or sassy or sexy or powerful.
I like classy, feminine styles. I tend to shop most at Ann Taylor and Loft, Banana Republic, J. Crew, and department stores. I love the styles from Shabby Apple and I drool over Elizabeth McKay's dresses.
I'm 5'6, a size six, and a warm Autumn.
I look forward to bouncing ideas off all of you and continuing to develop my style.

Hi all, glad to join here. I'm Helen and I come from VN. Sorry for my bad English. I'm thirty-one year old, still single now. I'm happy to join here and see that many useful articles that help me a lot.

Hello community, my name is Ariana and discovered this site recently and hope to be an active visitor here !
I run my own fashion and design company out of Las Vegas, NV where I create from the wild to the odd out of leather, studs, spikes, and try and bring it easy, fun, and accessible to people who would want to explore some edgy style.

I design and create the things I wish existed but just could not find in any store , and am inspired by everything from old punk rock ( huge Misfits fan ) to bohemian, rocker, and hippie influences.

I hope I can share and learn here thanks for having me !

First post!

Hello new friends!

I've been reading this website for many years... Just now posting. I'm a fitness instructor; this means that I run around in fitness gear all day, every day. On top of that, I'll totally admit to being kind of a slob. I think every day when I get home from work (and I get off work around noon most days), "Why bother getting dressed and done just to be at home by myself?" I also have a tendency to let my polish chip and grow out and just generally be kind of a hot mess. I want to change that about myself!

The thing is, I have plenty of very cute clothes. I love to buy them and arrange them into little outfits that I never wear, either because I don't feel like there's a special enough reason, or because I'm more confident in my gym wear. I hope I'm not the only person that has ever done this.

I'm 37 and have a slender boyish figure and a curly pixie cut like Audrey Tatou. I love: high waisted wide leg pants, striped tops, Converse sneakers, clean lines, solid colors, especially gray, black, and red. I don't like: layering, lots of accessories, obvious makeup, anything fussy, bows or ruffles, skinny pants, high heels.

My goal here is so soak up everyone's ideas and excitement and hopefully receive some gentle nudges to make a little bit more of an effort with my appearance. The other day I wore jeans and a striped t-shirt and hubby asked why I was all dressed up. Yikes!

I look forward to being your friend!

Hey there! I am Nicky. I am 29 years old. A mom and fashion Blogger.
My blog is: http://www.bloesemknoopje.wordpress.com
I love fashion, beauty products and i have a hair obsession. I change it a lot!

Hi, everyone.
I'm a new member here. I want to learn how to be confident ahead of the crowd. I hope that I can make as many good friends as possible.
I love watches but I lack in other areas when it comes to fashion. I am sure this forum will teach me a lot.
Great fashion forum.
Have a great day!

Hey all, i'm Chloe Cashmere and i'm 26, slim and petite, and a xdresser. New to female fashions and totally in love with them. It's something i always wanted/needed to do and right now i spend 60% of my time en femme but this is gradually increasing. i'm no outrageous drag gurl (tho <3 to those gurls too) but i prefer to comfy and casual. I think the Jackie by J crew is the most perfect Cardigan that exists, love cute leather jackets and skirts, statement necklaces, high heels (too-high ones are currently impossible) lip-tars in deep colours, miss the days of the angora sweater girl, have a pile of exquisite lingerie (wish i had more chances to use) and because of the wonders of real hair wigs can be someone different every day (right now in zooey deschanel bangs). Say hi <3 x chloe

Hello everyone, my name is Latisha aka Tisha and I found this blog while searching for information on body proportions. I am a 26 year old student trying to become more fashionable. I want to wear age appropriate clothing, but I always end up wearing clothes from high school or wearing clothing that was made for more mature/older women. I am at the end of both spectrum when it comes to clothing myself. I see multiple outfits that I would love to wear, but they are always for tall, thinner women with the 'ideal' body proportions...longer legs shorter torso. I'm the opposite which didn't bother me until I gained a lot of weight and my friend pointed out that I had short legs for my height (5'5, 30" inseam from crotch to floor). I might look out of proportion because I have wide shoulders, wide but long torso and shorter limbs. When I was thinner I was narrow and looked very proportionate. In my case I think that weight and body proportions matter more than height and I definitely want to become more fashionable with the help of this site. Thanks

Hi everyone, my name is Isabel, I'm 29 year old high school teacher from Australia.I have three dogs and I recently lost a lot of weight after I was diagnosed with several food malabsorptions. I feel like I can start wearing some new styles of clothes now and begun to enjoy researching what's in style and what colours work well together. I try to keep my work outfits different from my not at work outfits. I also need advice on how to look after my clothes properly because I tend to ruin them just by washing them.

New here. 46 years old. 5'7", 145, athletic hourglass kind of shape I guess. I'm very into dystopian minimalism I've been lurking here for a while, figured it was time to sign up and contribute.
