Who's Who?
This thread is dedicated to identifying yourself. As YLF has grown, it's getting difficult to keep all the wonderful members straight. Hopefully everyone will feel comfortable to divulge a little information about themselves, or even a photo! (Visualizations go a long way around here!) Feel free to tell us what your personal style is, what your body type is, what your signature style is...You get the idea!

Yeah! This will be so fun!
So I'm Ana ("Hi, Ana"), and I am a student, but I'm 27 and married, so I guess I'm "non-traditional." I will be attending the University of Texas at Austin in the Fall to finally finish my bachelor's degree in Mathematics (Statistics, Probability and Data Analysis).
I love shopping and fashion and stuff and I am a short hourglass with broad shoulders, and would describe my style as "funky modern classic," which is a fancy way of saying I wear lots of patent belts and twin sets. I love J. Crew (that's probably an understatement since the salespeople at the one near me have my name and number on speed dial), but I also won't rule out any store, even if it's not necessarily "my style" because you can find lots of interesting accessories and things at a lot of places. I've even bought things at Chico's and Coldwater Creek. As Angie says, "Leave no retail stone unturned." Banana Republic is a great store as well and Nordstrom's has really nice things. I've recently discovered Anne Fontaine and her blouses are amazing!
I stumbled on YLF surfing the internet looking for tips on cleaning out closets and body type, etc because I just did a major edit of my wardrobe about 2 months ago. Posting to this board has been really phenomenal and I've learned a ton from Angie and ALL the wonderful ladies who post here. I like cooking, I'm a vegetarian, and I volunteer for a group that rescues retired racing greyhounds.
Here's a photo, although you've probably all seen me on here already since I post a lot of outfits and questions:
http://i66.photobucket.com/alb.....0211-2.jpg
Okay, next! I want to know all about you guys too and what you like to do.
Nicole, you started this thread, you better post about yourself too! :)
This is indeed a lot of fun!
My name is Tanya, which is short for Tatyana ( in my native language they are both spelled with 'j' instead of 'y'). I am a 30 year old grad student living in Boston MA. I moved here 6 years ago from a very small Eastern European country for school, and am currently trying to wrap up my PhD studies in a science field that's very interdisciplinary- a mixture of physics, chemistry, biology and engineering. I have a stable BF of 5 years now and we have just moved into our first real apartment.
I absolutely love fashion and shopping and such which creates me clothes storage issues sometimes :) I am an average height hourglass, and a "summer" in the seasonal color clasification. I am not very sure on how to describe my style in the best way, but something like "modern chic" would probably be close enough. I love polished, clean looks with something modern, and have recently started to incorporate some funkier styles, thanks to Angie and YLF!
I absolutely love wrap tops and dresses. My 'go-to' outfit is wrap top over a cami, dark bootcut jeans and wedges. Here's an example:
http://s300.photobucket.com/al.....CN2864.jpg
I also like tops with interesting details such as ruching, surplice, open-backs etc. My favourite colors are blues/purple/pinks/berries and white/cream. In general I like styles fitted at the waist and stay away from shapeless shift /baby-doll type garments. I shop everywhere and always try to find a bargain! My favourite places used to be Express and H&M, but currently it's more of Banana Republic and Nordstrom. I also frequent online discount sites such as Bluefly and Smartbargains a lot. Designerwise, I love DVF, and also like Theory, Elie Tahari, Nanette Lepore and D&G.
I love ballroom dancing and have actively competed for 4 years before I had to quit. I plan to resume as soon as I graduate. I adore cats and am totally addicted to cuteoverload.com. I plan to get two kittens after graduation as well.
I love YLF and it has helped me tremendously in all the aspects of dressing/shopping/putting outfits together. I dream of hiring Angie one day.
I'm done here. Next, please!
Tanya is the resident bargain bloodhound. Ask her and she will find it!
I didn't know you did Ballroom dancing! That's outstanding! I have always wanted to do it, it seems like so much fun and I watch the competitions and the dancers are so good, they make it seem effortless (even though I know it's not). I'm thinking of maybe trying some ballet. Maybe it will help me learn some grace and poise.
Ana, I love ballroom dancing! The costumes ! The rhinestones! The fake tan! The drama! I wasn't particularly good at it but I still enjoyed it a lot. It can be very demanding tough. If you have a chance, give it a try! Some salsa dancing (not technically ballroom) might be a way to ease into it. The ballet is great and pilattes help as well.
Just for fun, once I get home tonight I shall post some of my competition photos in full costume/make-up :)
That would be so neat to see! Do it!
Hello, all, I’m Becky. I’m 33 and have been married for 12 years; my husband and I have two daughters, ages 5 and 2. I was formerly a school psychologist, now a SAHM, and I work part time teaching general psychology online for a local community college. Some hobbies include reading (I like mysteries and historical fiction and nonfiction), quilting (but I'm a novice), flower gardening, scrapbooking, traveling, and genealogy.
I am new to learning about dressing with style. The overall style quotient in my area (SW Kansas) is very low, and dressing stylishly was never emphasized in my family growing up. I have always loved pretty clothing, but have never known enough about choosing clothing that fits and flatters to make good decisions with a limited clothing budget. A couple of years ago, my sister challenged me to take more care with my appearance. She said, “You dress like you lost your figure when you had kids, only you didn’t!” So that began my journey into purging my closet (still ongoing) and slowly developing a more discriminating eye when making clothing choices.
I am short (5’0”), with a sturdy, muscular hourglass shape. I describe myself as having “summer” coloring, and my favorite colors to wear are red and rich berry hues. Here’s a photo: http://i285.photobucket.com/al...../004-1.jpg
I would say my style is modern classic; in general, I am more comfortable with classic, “safe” looks, but YLF has definitely influenced my taste and I’m coming along! I will never want to dress avant-garde, but I am learning to consider what might give a modern classic look a bit of an edge. The most unusual thing about my taste in apparel is that I sometimes like a bit of a western touch. One of my favorite tops is a red bandana-print snap-front shirt, and I like turquoise and silver jewelry.
It seems natural I'm going to follow Becky because I'm also 5'0," summer coloring, and an hourglass, and I was born in the midwest with family still in KS!
But I'm 10 years older - nearing 43. Not so muscular these days, though I do still run and do yoga occasionally. Kids are teens - two daughters 13 and 15. I am on my second marriage; we've been together over 6 years but only made it official 2-1/2 years ago.
I have been a telecommuter in high-tech marketing for about 5 years now. I love the flexibility and work/family balance (even if the hours seem endless - hence why you will see me posting at all hours of the day, as I take a break between conference calls). But that was a big change for me, fashion-wise!!!
Prior, I was the one who *never* wore jeans for biz-casual fridays, and always overdressed compared to everyone else. It's the baby face/short thing. You want to be taken seriously in business, so you can say that I overcompensated.
As a result, I never wore jeans. If I wasn't in dress pants and high heels and dressed up, I was in khakis and a tee shirt. Or, worse, sweatpants. It's funny, I spent a few years there thinking I could find "fancy" sweatpants. Hee hee. (my DH says I need to really need to retire my velour sweatsuits now - even for home-wear!)
About a year or so ago, I decided it was time to search for the perfect jeans. Having tried on jeans and done numerous searches in the past, I never thought I would find them. But I did. And that started everything. From there, I found YLF and the smart-casual formula.
So you will see that I am most often wearing jeans in my photos, because that fits my telecommuting lifestyle. When I am not working, we enjoy doing all sorts of fun things around our city (Boston) including going to theaters, art gallery openings, comedy clubs, etc. Smart casual works great for all of these.
Where I shop: with the exception of jeans, it pretty much has to be petites, which limits me to AT, ATL, BR, Gap and a few department store brands. I can occasionally find an XS regular that works.
For a long time, I bemoaned this limiting factor (I *could* afford designer clothes - IF they would only just FIT), but since following YLF I've taken on the more positive philosophy that style is all about how you combine things. So that's what I've been trying to do.
But I still have a secret fantasy wish of being able to have a completely custom, one-of-a-kind wardrobe created just for me... hee hee...
To conclude, I'm afraid I'm a total shop-a-holic, and will appear that way to everyone!!!! It is true I will sometimes shop just for the "therapy" benefits. But rest assured, my DH and I live otherwise quite frugally and believe in fiscal responsibility. Long ago, we sat down and made a budget. My clothing "hobby" is actually a line item in that budget. We both have hobbies that may seem totally frivolous to others, but that we'd rather spend money on than things other people might spend on!!
Ha, how about adding another petite here. I'm Julia, 5'0'' tall and 40 years old. I came from China 15 years ago with my husband and currently live in Charlotte, NC. I have a ten year old daughter and work in the IT department of a financial company.
My hobbies are fashion and stock trading, a weird combination, I know. I have over ten fashion related websites and six stock related websites that I check everyday. I used to check YLF once a day but I spend most of my spare time here now. I'm not a power typer like some of you guys but I do read every thread and chime in once a while.
I'm a straightish hourglass with a simple chic style. I love black and white ensembles with colorful accessories. I used to be obsessed with bags and bought a couple of expensive designer bags but found out that I get bored with them quickly. I started to rent bags from BagBorroworSteal.com and that cured my obsession. :) I'm currently wearing a grey BCBG Maxazria bag for Spring. I plan to change it when the Summer comes.
I love Angie's smart casual formula and replaced the Jeans with dressing pants for my work outfit, it works very well. I recently learned the different lengths of tops/bottoms/skirts/dresses from Angie and YLF and have 90% of my dresses/skirts/walk shorts altered, what a difference it makes! The length can make or break a look, it's simple as that.
Well, I'll swing the spectrum the other way...I'm Dani and I'm 5'10" (when I played basketball they stretched and listed me at 5'11"). I'm 34 and mostly a SAHM. My husband and I have been married almost 12 years. I worked full time as a financial reporting manager for a public company and then switched to working part-time for another public company after my first son was 18 mos. I have two boys, now 4 1/2 and 2. The company I worked for part time is getting ready to change directions and no longer needs anyone part-time so I will be switching into full time SAHM.
I came to YLF after losing my pregnancy weight and growing tired of looking at everything in my closet. I'm trying to learn how to be more discerning in my purchases and not look like all the frumpy looking moms I see at my sons' school. I'm just starting my closet cleanout and it's very overwhelming.
I live in Tennessee and have been here most of my life, but I love to travel and would love to see more of the world some day. I enjoy spending time outside and playing with my kids. I also like photography, interior design, cooking, and sports.
I'm so glad that I found this forum because I don't have any sisters and my best girlfriends live all over the place so I don't ever have anyone to give me honest opinions when shopping. I'm learning so much from Angie and from everyone else!
I'll also represent the tall side of the room. ;) My full name is Olga, but Ola is a nickname that my family uses, so that's what I go by here. I'm 28, am 6' tall and work as a business analyst in the computer software industry.
Hubby and I just bought our first house, which is keeping us busy and sucking up all our extra money too. We have two dogs - they are both my exercise plan and daily entertainment. :D Chaos is a norwegian elkhound mix and Mayhem is a retired racing greyhound (Hi Ana!). I don't have any good photos of me to share, but I sure have plenty of the dogs, so here is Chaos and Mayhem.
I'm pretty new to YLF and am still learning, so I'm not sure I can say much about my style. Right now I'm still searching for that perfect pair of jeans! ;)
Oh your dogs are so cute! Mayhem is awesome, you don't see many grey Greyhounds around (we get mostly brindles). Hangin' out in the pool--just like a Grey to do that!
I have to add that it is really fun to read all about you guys and your hobbies and style and things!
Ok, here goes. I’m Antje, 40 years old, originally hail from Germany, but now live in Seattle together with my (female) partner of 16 years and our 6 year old daughter. I work as a product planner in a high tech company. Besides family, friends, work and fashion, I enjoy food (cooking it and eating it), books, and traveling. I run and do pilates for exercise, occasionally bike in summer, and in winter I love to ski.
I’m 5’3’’ and a size 8 hourglass. My style tends towards funky; I like colorful prints, layering, and bold accessories. I also still have a streak of the “80s Euro girl” in me and enjoy wearing black a little bit too much at times; YFL is definitely helping me to expand my horizon in terms of non-black neutrals! I shop at a lot of different stores, including Zara when I get the chance (none in Seattle, unfortunately), Ann Taylor Loft, Macy’s (esp. the INC department), Nordstrom, Express, H&M. I recently discovered Bluefly online and dig it, e.g. for great Sweet Pea tops. I regularly shop at select consignment stores in Seattle and am quite successful picking up good finds there, both heavily discounted items from mainstream stores and really interesting and unique pieces from designers I never heard of. Shoes are my biggest weakness; I own a lot of ballet flats in many colors and prints and keep adding to the bunch (if you see a pair of flats in bright turquoise or a funky floral pattern, please send a link ;-))
I was introduced to Angie by a mutual friend, and hired her for a wardrobe makeover about a year and a half ago. It was an amazing experience; I learned so much about style and how to dress in a way that better suits and flatters my shape while expressing myself and my personality with more confidence. We’ve since become friends. Then YLF started, and I’ve loved watching it take off; what a vibrant community and a smart, helpful, creative and supportive group of women! I’m awed by the trust women put into this forum, posting pictures and exposing their (imagined!) “flaws” and insecurities, and I’m even more awed by the responses: the advice that’s being shared, the kind words and constructive critiques, and the willingness with which women spend considerable time and effort hunting for the right piece of clothing and the best bargain for someone who is a “stranger” to them except in this virtual community. And I’ve loved the transformations that we’ve all had the honor to watch.
My only “problem” with this forum: It’s way too addictive and I let myself get distracted from work and relationship time way too much ;-)
Ha ha, Antje, you and me both! My husband says I'm obsessed with this forum. :D
Count me as YLF-obsessed as well!
Ok my turn. I'm sorry I did not have time to actually talk about myself when I opened this discussion. But I got up a few minutes early today so I could do this. :)
My name's Nicole, I'm 39, married (15 years this Sept.), 2 kids girl 11, boy 8. I work PT in a law firm that represents lenders in real estate transactions. I am really into following the real estate market and I love my job. I was a SAHM for several years, and started working when my son started FT school. I like to garden, read, decorate my house, play with my kids and shop. I was born, raised and currently live in Central Massachusetts.
I came to YLF when I was unsure of what to wear to my 20th HS reunion. I think the site had only been in existence for few months. I was here when Angie launced the forum, and I have probably read every single thread here. (yikes)
I'm an inverted triangle...size 8 on the bottom (recently down from a 10), and top sizes seem to be all over the place for me. I've learned a great deal about the best way to dress from this forum. But more importantly, I have become a happier person because of this place and you guys. It's not just about knowing how to dress better, but the friendships and openness that goes on here, really touches my heart. I think about the regular posters here all the time. I can't see a wrap top and not think of Tanya, or a funky accessory and not think of Maya, or a JCrew sign and not think of Ana. ;) Or a poppy and not think of Antje...etc... And gosh what can I say about Angie? She is just brimming with charm and class. She is a role model for me.
I am definately obsessed with this site. I really did get up early to have a few minutes of YLF time to myself. But alas, I must get ready for work so I can look fab!
Hi, I am Anne. I am 34 years old and a SAHM with daughters aged nearly 5, nearly 2.5 and 4.5 months.
I am 5"4 or 163 cm and around 60kg - still have 4kg of baby weight to lose.
My body shape is pear shape - though currently I have a thicker torso. Dimensions around 34-30-38. I am longwaisted and have relatively broad shoulders. In australian sizes I wear around a 10 and when not pregnant usually an 8 on the top, though sizes vary a lot between brands over here too.
I live in a regional town and I am an inverterate bookworm
Unlike many of you I am not that keen on shopping and find it rather painful!
Nevertheless I have been interested in clothes (and also the history of clothing) most of my life. I discovered YLF on a search for advice on body types and have been reading it on and off for a few years.
I find it quite hard to adapt and make changes - but I can make them in the end.I credit YLF with my actually buying some clothes at the beginning of a season this year. I appreciate Angie's advice and love seeing the photos and learning from the rest of you especially about colours, layer, belts and accessories.

I have a lot to learn. Thanks everyone!
This is a fun topic. Ana, the dogs you work with look so sweet; it must be a terrific job. Your dancing sounds like so much fun, Tanya! I didn’t know you were in Kansas, Becky. You live (comparatively) close to me. Your dogs are beautiful, Ola! I’m also YLF obsessed. :) Ok, I’ve babbled on enough with random comments; here’s my little bio.
I’m Sarah, and I am a 22-year-old married college student. I’m a senior majoring in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy (teaching) at a small college in Kansas City, Missouri. I graduate this December. I’m excited to get out of school, move on with life, and move out of my very small, very old campus apartment. Jerry and I have been married for almost two years, and I’m getting to the place where I want to have kids in the next year or two. My husband does tech support for GPS surveying equipment and has expensive hobbies like guns and computers.
As far as body type goes, I’m either a not-so-curvy hourglass or a curvy rectangle, leaning toward inverted triangle (with broad shoulders and a small chest).
Persona wise, I used to be a frumpy not-so-modern classic, but now, with all of your help, I’m leaning more toward artsy eclectic with a bit of modern classic and ultra feminine touches here and there. My style is definitely still developing. I just finished a major closet cleanup and am working on redoing my wardrobe. I’m on a low budget, but I love to shop sales at just about any store even if I end up mostly window shopping at places like Nordstrom and J Crew where you all shop. I was introduced YLF through a friend who also needed some fashion help. I too dream of hiring Angie someday. And like many others here I’m only 5’2”, despite having been called tall and slim by our wonderful Shiny. :D
I do pilates, yoga, and aerobics, but more to stay healthy than because I enjoy them. They are the most enjoyable exercises I’ve tried though. And anything that strengthens the core is great for me as a singer.
I have tons of hobbies. I enjoy cooking and sewing, although I’m a beginner at both. I got a sewing machine for Christmas and I’m excited to use it during my free time this summer (between a summer class and the possibility of a part-time job). I also like reading and writing; I would love to publish something someday, probably in the historical fiction genre. I also enjoy drawing and scrapbooking and love taking pictures. Basically, I enjoy a lot of forms for art, but don’t have time to do them all. The art takes up most of my life (and has since I was 8 or 9 years old) is music. I love to listen to just about any type of music, with my favorites being Broadway musicals, classical, country, and recently Celtic. I used to want to be an opera singer and then a Broadway singer, but I’ve recently discovered that my voice is much more suited for the folk genre, hence my new love for Celtic music. My favorite music group is Capercaillie, mostly because the lead singer, Karen Matheson, and I have very similar voices.
I post pictures on here frequently, so here are a couple of unusual ones. The first is from our wedding and the second of me in our spring musical last March. We did Gilbert and Sullivan’s “The Pirates of Penznace” and I was Mabel (for anyone familiar with it). I adore Victorian costumes like the one I had for that play.

Hi, my name is also Sarah. I am 26 years old and live in Austin, TX. I was actually born in CA, but lived in Washington state (near Seattle) since age 2. I met my husband and I moved to Austin, TX after we married in January of 2006.
I currently work for Allstate Insurance, but have a background in banking and teaching piano. I studied piano seriously up through college, although now I just play for personal enjoyment.
My husband and I are very active, and run in Austin area races several times a year.
I am also an animal lover, and currently have 2 cats of my own, and I'm caring for a family of six strays. As soon as the kittens are old enough, I'll bring everyone inside, get them checked at the vet, and start finding homes for them.
I believe I am an hourglass shape, but as I've been in the process of losing weight since last year, my body shape seems to change frequently.
I have outfit photos posted here: http://letitrainagain.blogspot.com/
I have always loved fashion, and shopping is my favorite hobby. I like to look my best, because when I feel great about myself, I feel great about my life. This website is one I would view daily, and I was so excited to hear about the forums. Y'all have been great help so far, and I love learning from you.
Oooh Sarah, I LOVE your wedding gown. I love when weddings are a little different. My mom is mortified by my dream of a Halloween wedding. Oh well.
Well I know I'm not quite as regular a poster as the rest of you, but I am a regular lurker. I haven't gotten around to posting photos of my outfits just yet, mainly because I'm still dissatisfied with so much of my wardrobe, but I will try to do that in the next couple of weeks. Anyway.
I'm Alanna, but a lot of people call me Lannie so I tend to go with that most of the time. I'm 22 (23 next week- eek!) and I've just finished up a second degree at university. The plan is to go into teaching after this. For the summer I'm going to be working as an English tutor until I start working as a counsellor at a theatre day camp for July-August, so I can get away with a casual wardrobe basically all the time, except for particular events like the many weddings I'll be going to this summer (including my sister's, where I'll be a bridesmaid!). I'm fairly tall (between 5'8" and 5'9") and my weight generally fluctuates between size 10 and 12 (although I've had a recent weight gain that is even making some of the 12s fit tight). I definitely tend towards a pear-shaped body (sometimes I think almost comically so, depending on what I'm wearing).
I own a LOT of clothing, but the trouble is that I am dissatisfied with most of it. I've been trying for years to create a style that works for me, but I didn't really know how to go about it until I came across this blog. I find that style advice is most helpful when you are given tips about how to make things work for your body, which is why I think Angie's blog is so much better than many of the others out there. When I have an outfit on that I think looks good and suits me, I feel really differently about myself, and I want to make a wardrobe that will let me feel like that every day. Right now I feel like I'm at an awkward point where I'm too old for a lot of clothing, but I also feel too young for others, so there is some uncertainty about what I should be wearing. I've really found it helpful to look at the photos on this forum of people around my age, so thanks!
These are a couple of photos of what I look like. One is from Christmastime, and the other from a Pearls & Polos party:

Hi, I am Marianne. I am 34, married for 10 years. I have 2 kids - a toddler and an infant. I live in Seattle and work in IT. I am a 5'8'' slim rectangle. I am not a regular poster, but I enjoy reading the forum and I would like to thank you all for wonderful tips and advice.
I started reading YLF when I was pregnant with my second child. Although I was never into clothes and shopping, I came to realize that I need to update my look now that I am in my 30s. At the same time I would like it to be functional for my fairly casual work environment and spending time with kids. I've always been a minimalist and as a result I am really hurting in accessories department :). I learned so much from YLF - working around my body type, ideas and new things I would never try before, helpful shopping tips. I also love how tactful, supportive and intelligent this group is. I don't have anyone else to ask for fashion advice, so this has been a great find for me!
I was also happy to find fellow vegetarians here (usually I try not to bring it up :))
Okay, another shortie here. I'm Stephanie, but that user name was taken, so I went with Steph for this site. I am a little under 5'1 (I'm five feet and three quarters of one inch, but that sounds silly--I used to say I was five feet but my boyfriend said I was "cheating" myself of an extra inch, but I feel like a liar if I say I'm 5'1). I am a very defined hourglass.
I'm 30 years old and have been living with my boyfriend for almost six years, with no intention of marrying any time soon. We have one cat and just took in a foster cat (if everything goes well, we think we're going to keep her). I do a lot of volunteer work with an animal rescue group, but I work as a lawyer at a large firm in Washington, DC.
I'm an animal lover and a vegetarian, and it makes me happy there are so many other veggies on this board. I don't purchase any leather, which makes buying shoes (and, to a lesser extent, purses) very difficult. I used to hate department stores, but have become a big fan of Saks as well as the Neiman Marcus shoe department (because they carry Stella McCartney--all vegan shoes!).
My weight has fluctuated a good bit in the past five or six years. I lost 35 pounds and gained back about half of that (although I was too skinny at my smallest). I know where my good weight is, which I think is important. When I gain or lose I tend to do so throughout my entire body (although I gain first in the chest and lose there last). I have always been pretty good about choosing outfits that work with my body type, even when I was bigger and harder to fit. I now wear about a size 4.
I wear jeans on weekends but never wear pants to work--only dresses and skirts. My legs are VERY short and pants tend to make me look very squat. I walk around in 4+ inch heels all day, every day, no matter where I am--shopping, work, being a tourist for days on end. My style is pretty classic, but I'm lucky in that my coloring (medium brown hair, green eyes, pale but warm skin tone) looks good in most colors, so I love wearing color (but I don't avoid black or other neutrals).
I stumbled across this website somehow, and am glad I did. The women here have great insight!
Hi I'm San. At 53 (soon 54) I am older than most of you so I will have to edit out a few years to get this all in one post.
I live in the Seattle area, as do my grown children and my grand child. I was born and raised in San Diego County and after my husband retires we'd like to move back to a warmer climate.
I worked as a union carpenter on bridges for 20 years starting on the West Seattle bridge in 1981. I retired 5 years ago. While I was working the clothing I bought was mostly gear like Carhardt work clothes and steeltoe boots. I wore a hard hat and 50 lb. loaded tool belt with a harness and lanyard for hanging off of walls. One day when I was hanging on a wall one of the guys yelled up at me that my picture should be on the cover of Cosmopoliton magazine. Very funny! It was very hard work in the rain and cold and I'm glad those years are behind me.
After I retired I realized I only had ratty cut offs and t-shirts and that is when I decided I needed to make some changes in my wardrobe, so as you can tell my starting point was negative 0. When I had nothing I didn't like to shop at all because it was too overwhelming. A personal shopper at Nordstrom's helped me get a basic wardrobe. I recommend that highly. Or ofcourse Angie but I didn't know about her at that time.
I'll put in a link to the only picture I've posted on the forum so far. I'm a little leary of posting face pictures on the web, with all the things that can be done with photoshop and the whole world lurking.
Angie is a compassionate person and collects the same to her hence this forum of wonderful helpful people. I spend way to much time reading here.
I am a vegetarian also and have been trying to learn patchwork and quilting.
It's very nice to be a part of this group. http://s288.photobucket.com/al.....G_3665.jpg
The link above doesn't seem to get to my picture in photobucket which I copied and pasted from a former YLF post on what body type I am. Sorry.
http://i288.photobucket.com/al.....G_3665.jpg
I think this link goes to the direct link on photo bucket.
Great idea Nicole!
I'm Inge, I'm 37 years old and I live in Belgium. I work from home as a freelance translator and I'm in the process of starting up a new business as a personal book shopper. A blog is already in place, http://plankjeongeregeld.typep.....ngeregeld/, mostly in Dutch still but I'm considering switching to English.
I'm 5'7" and a straightish hourglass. My style? Hmmm, difficult to stay, I like clean and elegant lines and timeless clothes with a funky touch and great attention to detail, a bit of vintage can't hurt either.
As I've already mentioned somewhere on the forum: I moved house last month and did a big closet purge, so now I'm trying to rebuild my wardrobe one step at the time. I definitely want to focus on finding great skirts and dresses for my body type (it's quite ridiculous that up until now I haven't really worn much of either). I discovered YLF only recently and think it's wonderful to be able to get honest an objective advice here.
I appear to look best in cool colours, which is fine by me since I happen to love those best (green and purple are two favourites). And I seem to have inherited the expensive taste of my godmother - not so great if your budget is limited. Whenever I enter a store I typically seem to be drawn to the one thing that is outrageously expensive or at least very pricey;-) Does anybody else get that too?
I absolutely love all things literature (so you can imagine I'm really excited about my new career move), languages, travelling, eating (I eat fish but no meat, and I'm an incurable chocoholic), shopping, the sea, cooking and baking, art, interior decorating and I'm a real night owl.

The link to the blog isn't working apparently. If anybody's interested:

Thank you for the complement on my dress Lannie. I love unusual weddings. My sister either wants to do hers at Christmas time with all the brides maids in red dresses with white fur (like the end of the movie White Christmas) or do a 1950’s sockhop themed wedding. Post pictures soon. I know it’s hard to post pictures of outfits you’re not happy with, but I’ve done it and it has helped me get rid of stuff I shouldn’t be keeping or wearing. And the wonderful ladies here will give you comments that help with future purchases.
Just wanted to top this thread to keep it in the "recent" tab.
