Size 11 wide here. Occasionally I will fit a regular width depending on style, and sometimes I go for the 12.

Long toes, flat foot with no instep to speak of. On the outside edge of my foot the bone juts out (base of the fifth metatarsal) where other people's angles in, so I don't like cutout or D'Orsay styles.

I went up 1/2 size, either length or width, wIth each pregnancy.

Growing up the only shoes findable in my size were "old lady" styles. So now that such a wide variety of beautiful shoes are available in my size, I have a very hard time not buying any and all that I come across. Although I am still in mourning for the nude patent LKBennet pumps--the same ones the Duchess wore getting off the plane in Canada--that I found at the Bay, in my size, for only $50, that I did not buy for the mere reason that they belonged only in my fantasy life... (Heel height issue, mostly)

Size 9--maybe 9.5 in pointy footwear. Very high arches (often get stuck in pull on boots) but nothing else to report. I've never had shoes fall off so I am lucky.

I think I might double somewhat with Janet and Claire. Size 8 shoes without socks, size 8.5 running shoes and boots with thicker socks. Narrowish feet, low volume but not really any problems except for two things.

-they are ALWAYS cold. I don't even understand how people can wear shoes without socks on planes.

-my little toes are very little. My toes make a triangular shape which means that they fit pointy toed styles fairly well, but if a shoe or sandal is low cut, my little toe will actually not stay in, it's set so far back and is so small. My DH has webbed toes and we joke that it's maybe an evolution thing, like how horses started out with more toes than they have now. We're just mutants leading the pack

I believe Sveta and I are the only two forum members who wear a size 12, so we are foot doubles in that regard!

Oh, I thought of one other thing. This does not affect the way shoes fit, but I have super short toenails aside from the big toe. Last time I got a pedicure the pedicurist told me I had the smallest toenails she had ever seen. I've also been asked by a pedicurist why I did not grow my toenails longer (um, because then how would I wear shoes??? I don't think she realized that my toenails just naturally are that short!

When I polish my toenails, I pretty much just polish the big toe, then touch the brush to each of the rest of my toes.

Peri--were both of your feet crushed by a horse? That must have been traumatic, to say the least.

Laura (Rhubarb Girl), Marin, and I all have the same size feet. My left foot has always been a tiny bit longer than my right; I comfortably wore size 10 until a couple years ago, when some size 10's have become too tight for my left foot.

They are medium width, with average-length toes and slender ankles. Both pinkie toes are wide because both were broken in childhood. (I bumped into my iron bedframe not once but twice, once with each pinkie toe--ouch!)

My feet have become quite fussy in recent years, and they have to always have enough support via an orthotic or my plantar fascitis makes itself known.

Marianna -- I am also a 12. Looks like I am in good company.

LACeleste - yay, another 9er!

I am a 9.5 in open toe shoes and some closed toe and a definite 10 in boots. I have a harder time with pointy toe shoes because I could probably do a 10.5 sometimes. I have a hard fit with European because they seem to run smaller.

I have a low volume foot, pretty slender but for bunions. The one on my left foot in particular is bothersome though now that I wear comfy shoes and have opened my wallet wider for shoes, all my shoes are uber comfortable.

My heels are also slender so I get slippage if I am not really picky. : )

Peasant feet here! Mine are probably closest to Ceit. I wear a 9 1/2, sometimes 10 in pointy toes, and sometimes 9 in sandals. I'm on the wide side, although I don't wear wide widths. My first three toes are straight across, making for a problem with the pointy toed shoes! I have rather low arches, I think. I cannot begin to wear expensive Italian shoes, but I could wear every 9 1/2 in Payless, although I no longer do. I've decided that cushioning and arch support will protect the big buggers. And I'm developing little bunions, so softer leather is in order!

Hehe, it's kind of funny to be reading descriptions of feet!

I said on another post that I have Freddie's- they are shaped like Fred Flintstone's feet! On the wide side, with short toes, so almost rectangles. As a young girl, I used to have to wear "cookies" in my shoes for my flat feet.

I mostly wear a 7.5, though most of the pointy toed boots I bought for fall are an 8. I would say they are higher volume.

Like Marianna and El Cee I am an unfortunate owner of size 12 feet. Actually it would be 11.5 - 12 but 11.5 is such an rare animal that I had just a single pair in this size in all my life!
I am not sure about high / low volume but my instep and arches are both very high so I guess it mean high volume? I also have a double ankle bone and thick ankles.
How do you tell if your heel is narrow or average? what do you compare it to? I know that my forefeet are on the wider side of the average and my toes are long. The biggest problem with my feet is that I have hammer toes ( the result of wearing too small shoes in my teens and youth ). As a result a lot of shoes are too low in the toe and rub on my toes. (and my feet look ugly in open sandals with a lot of toe exposure). This is why I often need a wide width in shoes.

I think I am similar to Angie, Laura, and Shevia. I am solidly a 6.5 (very rarely go up to a 7 or down to a 6) in regular shoes, though I sometimes go down to a 6 in heels. Perhaps my toes are smallish, which is why I sometimes use a 6 in heels? I sometimes even go down to a 6 in pointy-toed heels, which is weird.

My foot is bony and needs a lot of cushioning. I have pretty flat arches, so low volume. Narrow heel.

Janet, it's me! (Marlee, Claire, Rabbit, Carter, Emily - my other 8-8.5 friends, I have some similarities with you too.)
8 (8.5 for boots and more confined shoes, and occasionally 7.5 in less confined styles)
Wider in the toe box
Narrower in the heel - heels tend to slip
Volume? Must be average...
Fairly easy to fit
Slightly bigger left foot
Smallish ankles, but undefined/wide calves (not as long as Janet)
Webbed toes (like Rabbit's husband!) more pronounced on the left (see photo)
Beginnings of osteoarthritis in second toes.

(And Peri... Oh my goodness!!!!)

Peri! Mon dieu! I'm late to this post. so I just read about your accident. Are you OK? I don't know what to say and don't want to pry. I will never complain about my fussy feet again.

Fun foot post! Looks like April & Kellygirl are closest to my feet. Hey foot buddies!

Size 7
Wide in the toes and narrow heels
Very high arches
Very fussy feet - if my feet aren't happy, I am not happy

I pamper my feet with pedicures and can only stand comfy shoes. I have orthodics to help with my high arches and heel pain.

Here I am, Claire!

Size 8 with left foot slightly bigger than right.
Low volume
Long, bony toes
Narrow heels
Width is on narrower side of average, but not narrow enough for narrow sizing.
I feel more comfortable with arch support, but I don't think I have high arches.
I have the extra ankle bone which I had not realized was unusual. Everyone in my family has it.

No foot double so far I am a UK size 8 or 41 European. That's about a 10.5 US I think. Narrow heels - can't wear any slip-on shoes without falling out of them or tripping over them (or both). No foot problems but my second toe is slightly longer than my big toe & "curves" a little.

European 36 here. Regular arch, average witdth, low-volume (I guess), short toes.
Pretty easy to fit, except for the slipping out of pumps and flats. Still haven't figured that one out - a combination of low-volume, sweaty feet with a slightly narrower heel maybe? I feel most secure in booties, boots, lace-ups or mary-jane type of pumps.

Only a few of us in the higher end.
I'm a 10, 10.5 in premium brands (Sam Edelman, Cole Haan) 41-42 depending
My right foot was run over by a car (hugs to Peri) so it's a bit wider and flatter than the other. In a perfect world it's a 10.5 semi wide and the left is a 9.75 M.
I struggle with not needing a Wide all the time, but some M are too narrow.
I have found 10.5 is perfect in most pointy shoes.
I have never analyzed my feet this much and have no idea of their volume?

Euro size 34, sometimes 35 for boots

US 4 / sometimes 5 for boots
Very narrow feet

I doubt I have a foot double here..

The closest doubles that I saw were Tina and Kkards. I am a size 6 (EU 36) although occasionally I will go down to a 5.5 in a sandal or heel if it is available. I have relatively high arches so high volume feet I suppose? I have arthritis which limits me in shoes much the same way as a bunion. Because of my high arches I'm not really comfortable in a totally flat shoe but because of the arthritis I am most comfortable in a 2.5" heel or less.

I like you all too much to hope that any of you are my foot double! (Not saying that my foot story is the saddest, though...)
My usual shoe size is 10, although in some brands I need 10.5 or wide, and I own a few 11s. I wear custom orthotics. My latest pair is so wide and thick that I can't even insert them in my never-worn boots. I did buy some lace up boots that feel good when I first put them on, but my (sprained) ankles swell and by the 4 hour mark the boots are coming off! My left foot, still swollen 14 months after I broke 2 bones, hurts 24/7. My bunions got much worse during the months I was on crutches, so no more ballet flats for me. Sandals, slingbacks, and heels above an inch are out because of the orthotics.
My feet used to be very low volume but not so much anymore. Result of weight gain, age, accidents, orthotic use??? The last time I shoe-shopped at Nordstrom Rack (which has been my life saver for years) I found only one shoe that I could possibly wear. They weren't my style but out of necessity I've worn them a lot.
The sturdy, covered shoes that I have to wear are often too heavy and cause painful knee strain. They're also not what I would wear if I had other options. My saving grace is color and pattern. I've worn metallic flats for 20 years, wore out my first pair of leopard print ones four years ago. If a shoe fits me comfortably I will either wear it defiantly or store it until it becomes more fashionable.

(closest are possibly amiable or Rae?)

Size 9.5-10 Euro 40-41
average instep and volume
medium arch
bony feet
narrow heel, possibly wide toebox?
narrow-ish ankles
longish narrow toes, with second toe longer than big toe.

I have trouble finding pointy shoes that don't squeeze my toes, though I'm probably not patient enough in my search.
(When Mom took me out shoe shopping as a young girl the most immediate concern with every shoe was: does my heel slip out when I walk?)
I can have trouble keeping slip-on sandals on, the kind with a band over the widest part of the foot? I'm not sure what that means.

Not really related: I was born with feet turned inwards and wore casts and orthopedic shoes until 2 years old. It almost completely corrected but there is something very slightly off about my walking stride. Like the top of the foot lifting up too high maybe? I wish I knew exactly what it is. Very few people have commented on it and you have to be paying attention to notice. Wearing heels above 2 in. negates it.

I usually wear a 7M to 7.5M. I have flexible flat feet a low volume foot, with a slightly wider forefoot and a narrow heel and and also have really small toe nails (like you Diana - great toe is fine but the others are petite) and ticklish feet so no pedicures or polish for me. European sizing 37.5 or 38. Like Janet, I really supinate and wear out the outer heels of my shoes quickly. My foot feels slightly wide up front but only in SW do I take a wide or need to go up 1/2 size. I have small ankles and long calves that are 13" I don't have trouble buying boots or booties, but I have trouble keeping pumps on. I do better with a slingback. No foot problems and no pain. Although I try to keep my heels to 1.5" to 2" for day and no more than 3" for super dressy because of an old patellar knee injury. I don't think I have a twin unless I missed it! But you never know.

Just coming back to wave at Rute -- I didn't think I'd find anyone with feet even smaller than mine! Aziraphale also sounds pretty close to me in terms of size and shape. My feet do have a slight bird claw thing. Those and my hands are pretty much the only part of me anyone could ever describe as "birdlike."

Marillen and Shiny, I was also pigeon toed as a baby and had casts and corrective shoes. Maybe I can trace a lifetime of too many shoes to making up for the fact that my first-ever shoes were really ugly? That would explain so much.

I think I also have the ankle dip some people have mentioned, where my heel sticks out past my ankle, so even shoes that fit fine can look like they're too big.

Isabel? Marillen? I'm a true 9.5 or euro 41. Narrow heel, wide forefoot with bunions on both feet (right worse than left). Low volume somewhat boney foot with longer second toe (Morton's) toe. Right foot collapsing arch. Wear flats on up to heeled pumps, and find that I can walk forever in any footwear if I hold out for the best fit possible.

I LOVE my feet and take very good care of them!

I've had good luck with Clark's, Rieker, Merrell, Franco Sarto for a long time, and recently with BCBG, and Russell and Bromley. Asics and Saucony for running.

Waving to Claire. I'm a fairly solid 8, medium width although I like a roomy toe box. My left foot is a bit longer than the right with a V- shaped little toe from being broken. My right foot is usually happy in a 7.5 but I get 8 to accommodate the left foot. AJ looks like my closest foot twin. I also have the extra ankle bone, although not as pronounced as Mo's. Footwear that rub the bone are too painful to wear.
Long boney toes, like some arch support.
No bunions, but large veins.
Second toe is the longest on both feet.
The bottoms are sensitive and ticklish.
Average arches.
Tops of my feet must have a nerve or something that can make tie shoes painful on top of the foot.

Aubergine and rute...I am a similar size. I was hoping to win this thread, but you beat me :). It's strange how we all feel so alone, since so many shoe stores do not stock size 5 shoes. I can wear a US 4.5 in some styles. I guess it's a good thing though...if I could find shoes just anywhere, I would be in debt because I love them some much.

My feet are pretty proportional as far as length and width. I just wish they were a little bigger so I could buy more off the rack.

I do NOT shop in kids. That, to me, is demeaning...though I did do that when I was broke and needed some new athletic shoes. Apparently they stock the same style of shoes in kids and adults for sneakers. For much, much cheaper.

There's at least a foot sister here for me if not a foot twin for my difficult feet:

  • Size 8 US (38 for a sandal, 39 for a closed toe shoe)
  • Second toes longer than the big toes
  • Extremely high arches (in lots of heeled shoes, I find that the entire middle part of my foot between the ball of my foot and the heel sits up above the shoe without touching it all all. Standing barefoot with a light source behind me, you can see light coming through under my foot-- almost as if my arch extends through my entire foot from left to right.
  • Narrow and also likely low volume feet (Despite the high arch, I walk right out of many shoes. If not narrow size, some sort of adjustable closure is almost always required. Mary Janes are my friend.
  • My toes are long and narrow-- lots of toe cleavage!
  • Very little padding on the bottom of my feet
  • Bony feet
  • Morton's neuroma-- both feet
  • Small calves 13.25 inches which means boots need to be narrow calf
  • I wear custom orthotics when possible and if not custom, I wear lots and lots of shoe inserts to improve shoe fit/comfort
But the good news: when I asked my orthopedic surgeon/foot doctor if I had bunions (my primary care physician said I did), he said absolutely not! He said my feet are difficult enough as it is and that I can be glad I don't have to worry about that.
