Oh lordie. I'd kill to find a foot double who shared my taste in shoes. Actually, I'd kill to find my foot "mirror." So we could swap one shoe of each pair.
I've always had two different sized feet. Not by just a little bit either. A whole size difference between my left and right foot. So for years I'd usually opt for the size between when it came to buying shoes and cram the larger foot into a slightly smaller shoe (so the left shoe was usually a bit snug and the right shoe a bit big). The only time I don't do this is for hiking boots. In that case I buy two pairs in the correct size for each foot.
One would think that over the years this foot squishing would have had somewhat the effect of chinese foot binding and have made the larger foot slightly smaller. Nope. Rat bastard in the last year has actually gotten *bigger.*
It did however, cause osteoarthritis in the small bones of the bigger foot. Lucky me.
So now I'm in the position of having to get rid of a bunch of shoes I used to be able to wear pretty comfortably.
Can I just say having a shoe addiction and difficult to fit, fussy feet really sucks.
So now my left foot is closer to a size 7 (it previously was a 6.5 and could often accommodate a size 6 shoe depending on the brand). While my right foot remains a size 5.5). I recently measured them both again with a brannock device to confirm my suspicion that the left foot had gotten longer. While it's not at a 7, the big toe now just passes the 6.5 mark.
So, what I wouldn't give to find someone who had a 5.5 left foot and 6.5/7 right foot. Then we could buy two pairs in the correct sizes and just swap each other.
So my current feet are:
- left foot: 6.5/7
- right foot: 5.5
- Relatively narrow/skinny medium width feet (I can often wear a size narrow if they are out of a medium width in a style I love)
- moderately high arches.
...and if anyone is in the market for some fantastic size 6 shoes, many of which were either only worn once or twice or never worn -- hit me up. I've got some gorgeous ones that I've been slowly selling over the last few months (often times I'm unable to determine if the shoe will be comfortable or work for me till i've worn it for several hours or a full day. So I end up with a lot of shoes that I thought would work but find out after one day of wearing that they won't).
This is why I also love boots. Waaaaay easier to fit thanks to innersoles and the fact it encloses the whole foot, so no foot-popping-out-of-shoe issues.
