What would you splurge on?

I feel an urge to splurge on something special, and no idea what! Yes...ridiculous!! Totally backwards. We are supposed to have an actual need, and then splurge on the best rendition of that we can find, not to want to splurge and then find excuses to make that happen. I should ignore it until it goes away.

Or....you can all be enablers and show me your wish lists. Maybe I will get inspired!

Since you and I are style twins, I say a pair of real leather leggings. The ones I got recently are just the best thing ever. So comfortable, go so well with tunic tops, you'd get a ton much wear out of them. And mine weren't even expensive! On sale for not a lot more than the Lysee fake ones are at full price.

A bag or sunglasses.

At the moment I am fancying a stunning black clutch....suitable for evening but not just for balls/weddings.

I have two good pairs of sunglasses which is as many as I can justify. But to me having the right pair makes a HUGE difference to how I feel.

The cashmere scarf and hat idea I just did last night. I went with hat and gloves though. Hoping they are fabulous.

Cosmetics....I can see that! But I need to get through some allergy testing first.

Leather...hmmm, coat maybe, except I hardly wear the suede one I already have. Leggings, now that would be a major wildcard. I think I'd like a splurge that wouldn't have a fight with my comfort zone! I don't even have normal leggings.

Got plenty of cashmere for my climate!

Last time this mood hit me I considered diamond studs, but the SA made a major misstep when she told me I'd never want to wear any other earrings. Wrong thing to say to me! Plus everyone would assume they were fake anyway.

Mmm, when I get the desire to splurge, I always go for something that will last. My preferences tend to be jewelry, handbags and outerwear. Sometimes shoes. I rarely truly splurge on clothing because it tends to date faster than other things. Jewelry, handbags and good outerwear can potentially last a lifetime.

Ha! I just "splurged" on two H&M blouses. I guess that doesn't count, right?

That sounds kind of funny but most of my so-called "splurges" are really impulse buys and often inexpensive. Things not in the plan.

I spend more on the items I plan to buy but don't feel as if I am splurging.

Having said that, I might just splurge on an new puffer coat.

When I got my first tenured job in academia, I took myself to Prada and splurged on a bag. It was terrifying spending so much $$ on a bag but so exhilarating!

That bag still looks fab and remains in rotation.

I think it should be something you love and would use a lot but just would not ordinarily buy, in terms of brand or quality. Not forced, so you might need to " wait for it".
Jewelry is a good category because " real" is usually a splurge but you might wear the earrings, simple necklace or cuff every day. High- end flat boots for boot-weather folks. Trench coat. Luxurious tote bag. Csshmere blend coat.
The key for me is it ought to feel like it's so YOU that you wish you could have it and , tad ah, you can if you budgeted for it ( in whatever sense of the word).
That's why just goig out for a random splurge doesn't always work for me.
I keep trying to remind myself to cut back on routine wardrobe expansion and buy less so that IF I come across something fabulous like above, I would just buy it. Prepared opportunism.

Usually I'm willing to splurge on a statement piece over basics. By the way, after your testing you should look at the Drunk Elephant skincare line. The prices are a splurge over what I'm used to (cough, cetaphil), but the reviews are fabulous.

I have had a lot of fun with this post this morning. It's amazing to shop without budget in mind! If I had the ability and desire to really splurge, I would probably shop for exactly the items I want right now, but a lot better versions of them. This way, I would definitely use the splurge items frequently and they would have the best chance at making me smile often.

So ... a much-upgraded puffer that I would probably keep forever, a cape/shawl/poncho and scarf from Burberry, and a fun Pucci Tote.

I bet you need something and have been suppressing it. You unconsciously are sending messages to yourself that this need should be met. Maybe it's a hole in your closet, something that doesn't seem like much but would bring so many other items together. Think:
Is it a belt (sometimes we have one in a color, but need one with a golden or a silver buckle)?
Footwear?
Leg wear such as tights?
Useful, practical, chic purse that transforms any old coat+boots+scarf into a fab outfit, as shown by kkards?
Is it a conversation piece necklace or other jewelry as suggested above?
Is it a cuff bracelet?
Is it a scarf, like Rach's suggestion, or another type of scarf?

Is it a new bra?

A new bra AND matching panties?

Anything cashmere! And I've been eyeing that Burberry scarf that Viva posted. As far as diamond studs go: I wanted some for years. ( I mean YEARS. Thirty? ) When I worked at Nordstrom, Kwiat studs would go on sale for Anniversary, 25% off and then my manager's discount of 33%. So that made them half off. I saved all my prize money and bonuses for a year and bought 1.5 cttw. At the time,I thought all my other earrings would languish in my jewelry box,, but I still wear my yellow gold earrings as well as my studs. I'd say I wear the studs half of the time. I love them, best purchase ever.
