Wow this has been fun! I love to see your ideas, both specific and philosophical.
We've got Suz's idea that a splurge is a small thing, not thought out or planned for and not necessarily all that expensive...a definition I hadn't considered. But yes, a new lipstick I don't need or a cute low budget top can feel like a nice treat.
We've got some doable splurges...let's call them indulgences...that don't break the bank. This may be what I've meant without realizing it. Something like this sweater below. Price is fine, it would just be an indulgence because the print is outside my norm...a wildcard. But hey, a not brown leopard like my HEWI scarf, so not ridiculously wild.
And we've got some true luxury splurges (from where I stand)...like Dashielle's $2000-plus coat. Or I imagine some of those designer bags...I'm not a bag person so I've never priced them. Or those diamond studs I'm reconsidering.
Wisdom prize goes to unfrumped. I knew it from the beginning. I'm working backwards. I need to see the thing I can't live without and from there decide to splurge. That way the money is available when I truly want it.
Meanwhile...the sweater treat?
